It had been 3 years.

I was hospitalised for 17 months and kept monitored every day.

My mum found out everything. She knew about what David had been doing to me all this time. They broke up and we moved back to Grimsby. David was convicted in court for several cases of rape and assault plus attempted murder because my attempted suicide was his fault so they charged him with that.

Today was the day I left hospital. With my mum by my side and ready to start my life over again.

I was now 15 nearly 16 and was so happy to be home.

Mum bought me a dog to keep me company and as a little present. "This is because I made you put up with so much shit Laura. I'm so sorry you had to deal with all that by yourself and I'm so happy you told me and we can now get back to our normal lives again". My mum cried and squeezed me tight.

We got home and waiting for me was my new puppy. "Oh she's gorgeous mum! Look at her ears! I love her so much". The little dog came running from my auntys arms and jumped onto my lap, licking my face and wagging her tail in a circular motion, she was a golden brown with a few black patches round her face and big floppy ears, she had a long tail which was broken half way down from her previous owners who abused her. She was so happy and lovely.

"You got a name for this little angel?" My aunty Sarah asked me.

"Lilly". I beamed with excitement. Lillies were my favourite flower and it seemed to suit her so much.

This was perfect, just me, mum and my little Lilly.

A few weeks passed and it was my 16th birthday. My mum took me out for a meal with a few family members and Sarah and her children.

I was so happy to be back home and surrounded by people who loved me. Things were finally starting to look up for me and after everything that happened I was happy with my life.

That was, until a few months later.

My mum got a phone call from Sarah.

"Kay what was your ex called? Laura's dad"

"Erm Paul, Paul Robinson. Why?"

My mum went into the other room and 45 minutes later came in looking like she had just seen a ghost.

"What's up mum?" I was worried. She turned white.

"Erm, P-p-Paul. Your d-d-dad."

"What about him mum? What's happened? He died 11 years ago?" To be honest I had completely forgotten about my father being dead with all the drama I'd recently suffered.

"No. He's. Erm. Well he's not" my mum said slowly sitting down.

I nearly passed out from shock. "What the hell are you on about?!" I shouted.

Basically my aunty Sarah had found him on a dating website and she realised he looked familiar. He tried chatting her up and when he told her his job, hobbies and things like that she kind of put 2 and 2 together. She confronted him and asked if he had a daughter called Laura and when she did that, he was suddenly gone from the website.

My dad was alive and had been for all these years.
