CHAPTER 3: AMEN

"Wait, wait, wait. What?" Kellar said standing up at his 5'11" hight. His thick light brown hair was back into a giant, puffy, ponytail. His light skin looked a bit ashy from the shower he just got out of.

"Yeah, we almost died." Kanidy nodded when she spoke, letting him know we weren't lieing to everyone.

"Who was he anyway?" Sencere didn't even look up from her iPhone. She had one pink headphone in so she could listen to music and still hold a conversation at the same time. Her brown-black shoulder length hair with golden blonde tips, was up in a bushy ponytail also.

"I don't know, some white boy that scared me half to death when i got out of the bathroom." I hugged the pillow and rested my head on it.

"Damn, that's crazy." Myke shook his head. Myke had half of his shoulder length dreads in a small ponytail.

"Hey, what's up with all the ponytails today?" Kanidy asked out of nowhere. I just realized I was thinking the same thing.

"Jai doesn't have a ponytail." Sencere simple said finally looking up from her phone. All eyes shifted towards Jai, who was smiling his million dollar perfect smile. His dark skin and semi chubby face was always just too adarable for me.

"Jai don't count, dat boy got a damn fade." Kellar pointed out. This was true, his black hair was in a low hair cut.

"So guys, what the fuck are we doin' today?" Kellar said finally fully clothed with a red Diamond Supply Co. shirt with a pair of tan skinny jeans, a pair of red and white Chucks, and a black snap back that said "Diamond" in white cursive. He was always a good dresser in my book.

"I don't know but my grandad wanted me to go to church today." Jai looked down in mild shame.

"Yeah, let's go to church 'cause ya'll need Jesus." Sencere said wrapping up her phone with her headphones and laughing.

"It's 9:30, what time yo church start?" Myke asked sitting next to me on the tan couch with a massive bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

"Probably the normal 11:00," Sencere said standing up and brushing off her black, silver, and blue plaid tights with her dainty hands that made her large butt look bigger than what it was. "I haven't been in a while but I remember those times booy." She laughed.

"Fareal, like nobody eva forget them!" Kanidy exclaimed laughing and everybody joined, laughed, and agreed.

We all stepped on the holy land infront of the church. We all changed into what we thought was apropriate for church. Myke, wearing a black botten up shirt with a white tie. He wore a black jeans and some black and white jordans, a white snapback with the word "Preach" was nestled on top of his dreads. Sencere stood next to him, shorter than him of course, wearing a white crop top with a brown leather jacket, she had on blue jeans and brown leather boots that matched her jacket. Her hair was down, she had two big curls in the front. Kanidy stood just behind them in a long grey dress with a black floral print. Her short hair was fluffed with a black head band.

I tuened towards Jai, he had on a light blue botten up inder a Dark blue, light blue and white diamond sweater vest. He rested his hand in the pockets of his khaki pants. Kellar was on the phone, his lights brown puffy, curly hair down and under a red beenie. He wore a red botten up with a black tie with a pair of black skinny jeans, I never looked down to see his shoe game.

"Well..." Jai started, looking up at the front doors of the church. People where still going in, mostly elders with fancy dresses and suits. "We gone go in?"

I looked down at my long pink dress. It was the one with the corset. "Eh, I haven't been to church sence i was 15." I looked off down the street and saw nothing. Nothing.

"C'mon," Sen said started towards the big white door.

We all stood side by side in discomfert while the choir with the long blood red robes sang a cheerful, up-beat hym.

"Amen!" The older woman stood up and clapped with the singing choir.

"Holy sshhhh-." Kellar covered him mouth at the thought of where we were and pointed at the small wad of cash next to some car keys that sat where the woman just risen from.

I looled over to Jai, he was looking a bit nevious, he knew what was about to happen. "No, not in this boy grandad church" I closed eyes and thought.

"Get 'em." Sen whispered to me. She was talking about the car keys. I looked up at the pastor who was clapping and singing with the choir. I looked down in the seat and only saw the car keys.

"What?" I looked over and saw Jai with the money in his hand, he didn't look as bad as he did earlier but he still had a smile on his face. He looked over at me a and shrugged. "Why not?" I could hear him in my mind. I looked up at the red cross behind the hyper choir. "

"Whatever." I said to myself and grabbed the car keys.

"Praise the Lord!" Kell yelled and clapped dramticly. We all laughed and joined him, falsely worshiping along with the others.

"C'mon yall, lets go." Jai said leading us out of the pew, doen the middle aisle and towards the white doors of freedom.
