"Come in!"  He said upon hearing the knock and Rissa pushed through the door.

"Rissa, please sit" He offered.

Well, Dr. Shamble was more like a senior to her, he was like a Father. When she had currently resumed at the hospital, he was her mentor. She was always around him learning whatever she was missing out and without a doubt, he was good at the field. Over twenty years of being a cardiologist, he was now a consultant literally like a VIP doctor, he doesn't just attend to any patient.

"You wanted to see me? Is everything good?" He closed the files he was reviewing.

"Uhm..sorry to bother you Sir but I do need your help" She said back.

"You are like a daughter to me, so you should know that I would offer my help to you in a way I could render it" He assured her.

"There's this patient who was brought in three days ago, he had a terrible accident thereby puncturing his heart. I've kept him in the ICU but it's really difficult" She started.

"You can't continue leaving him there" He responded.

"I know Sir but  his chances are very low" She showed concern.

"But you would still do it?" He raised his brow.
Knowing him, she had realized he was a risk taker. According to him, you would never know the outcome of a circumstance until you take the risk without thinking.

"Of course, it would be worse not doing it" She said.

He folded his arms. "It looks like you have made a decision, so why do you need me?" He furthered.

"I need...um..to.."

"To join you in the OR?" He completed.

Rissa could only nod, asking her superior that kind of favor was difficult because of course other superior would be available at the OR but she wanted Dr. Shamble.

"Rissa.. that's no problem" He smiled.

She smiled back immediately. "Really? Thank you sir" She felt relieved.

"When is it scheduled for?" He asked.

"Tomorrow" She replied

"Just drop it with my secretary and make sure to inform the family making sure to tell them that it's a 50/50 knowing fully well that it is an obvious 80/20" He sounded stern.

That was the worst part about this job, having to lie to the families of the patient. She nodded in response.

"Make sure you lay emphasis to them that the patient might not survive it, prepare them for the worst too, we can only hope while we do our own bit " He gave her a reassuring smile.

She got up immediately feeling really grateful.

"Rissa? "

"Yes sir?"

"Do you have something to do after your shift?"

She had to squeeze her brain a bit. "Not really "

"You know about my son I always spoke about? The interior designer?" He asked.

He was always talking about his only son who they weren't in so much relationship with each other but he cared for him and he was a successful interior designer too.

"I want you to meet him, it's been a while I always invited him and he finally accepted, so can you at least see him after your shift?" He gave her a it's the least you can do  kinda look.

"Uhm...sure, I mean... that's okay sir " She kept an unintentional smile. "I'd like to meet him" She added calmly.

"Great, okay then" He rubbed his palms together in happiness.
