"What is wrong?" Rissa asked as she watched Lola walk into her office. "Did you see a zombie or something?" She held a smile.
"Girl" She still held her annoyed face, it wasn't like it was scared. It looked pissed or something. "I hate cancer" She blurted as she walked over to her desk.
Rissa rested her back. "We all do" She simply said.
"No-like what sort of ailment was cancer? It doesn't have a way to be contacted, someone just wakes up, boom! They have cancer, at least other illnesses have a way to contact them and the worst thing about it, is that it doesn't even have a cure" She sat across from her with a folded and annoyed face.
Rissa smiled. "What happened?"
"It's a kid, girl! I was in the OR for two hours straight with specialized doctors, the kid had leukemia. I was so emotional in that OR because the poor girl didn't deserve that" Her eyes went red.
She sighed. "How is she now?" She only said.
"She's still unconscious though, I was really torn. Won't anyone develop a cure for the damn ailment?" She turned to her.
"Everyone seems to have given up trying to find a cure" She shrugged. "I don't think it will happen soon but I hope something happens" She said with a hopeful smile.
"I hope" She felt a little bit better.
Just then Rissa's phone beeped, it was a text message from Luke, he had sent her a message, she clicked into it, it was a sweet message. The guy was so sweet and considerate or was it because they had just kicked off and it was too early. She smiled and flushed at the same time, she quickly sent him a heart and kiss emoji, she didn't know what to say back to it."Who's that?" Lola tried to catch a glimpse at her phone. "Luke?" She stretched a bit.
"No one" She shut the screen quickly with smiles.
"Only that guy makes you smile like that" She felt really happy for her friend. "How does it feel being his girlfriend?" She asked.
Rissa thought about it and it was just normal and the usual things, just that this time she was his own and so was he. "It's only been two days, Lola" She said.
"I guess so" She smiled.
"What's up today? What are your plans?" Rissa asked.
She shrugged her shoulders. "Nothing much really, it looks like I will be heading home today because my sister just told me that she broke up with the guy " She said.
"Already?" She seemed surprised. "Has it been close to three months?" She asked again.
"You know it hasn't" She shook her head. "I understand her plight but it's becoming too wild and irresponsible" She sighed, she was tired of Laure just being childish.
"You should talk to her" Rissa suggested. "Laure isn't that stubborn compared to you" She noted.
"You think I haven't tried enough" She sat on the table. "I don't know what else to say to a thirty-three years old woman" She sighed.
"Have you spoken with your parents, so they could help you talk to her?" She asked again.
"Mom was around a month ago and she stayed with us for a week. You know, girl, it was all futile trying to speak to her, dad keeps calling but still nothing works. They tried" She explained.
"How about you try to speak to her calmly with more warmth because I know you, Lola?" She smiled. "You must have been just a bit too hard on her" She knew how Lola might be just too harsh on Laure without considering her feelings.
