Truth be told, they didn't make it to St. Petersburg.
The helicopter crashed around twenty miles away from Melina's house, right in the middle of nowhere. Kat, Yelena, Natasha, and Alexei clambered off of it, stretching their aches.
Natasha crouched down next to Kat, looking at the fields of yellow grass and purple flowers. It wasn't pretty, but the two would have appreciated it more had they not been on a mission.
"You should've brought the Avengers' super jet." Natasha stood up and offered her hand out to Kat. She gratefully took it, being pulled to her feet.
"I swear, if I hear one more word from him, I will kick him in the face."
Yelena walked between the two of them, sighing. "He's the worst."
"Natasha! Natasha, come here. I want to ask you something." Natasha sighed, turning around to face Alexei. "Come, it's important."
"What?"
"Did he talk to you about me?"
"What? Who?"
"Did he talk to you about me? You know, trading war stories?"
"Who? Who are you talking about?" The two started back on their trail to Melina's house, following Yelena and Kat who were talking about the best way to braid hair.
"Captain America." Alexei sighed, almost as if the answer had been obvious. "My great adversary in this theater of geopolitical conflict. Not so much a nemesis. More like a contemporary, you know? Coequal."
Kat and Yelena paused their conversation listening to the one behind them. "Wait. You haven't seen either Yelena or I in 20 years and you're gonna ask me about you?"
"What is with this tension?" Alexei walked away from Natasha, looking at Kat. "Did I do something wrong?"
Kat laughed, rubbing her head. "Is that a serious question?"
"I only ever loved you girls, and I'm certain I would have had you been there at the time. I did my best to make sure you would succeed to achieve your fullest potential and everything worked out."
"Everything worked out?"
"Yes. For you, yes." He waved his arms around in the air as he spoke, walking closer to Natasha and Yelena. "We accomplished our mission in Ohio. Yelena, you went on to become the greatest child assassin the world has ever known. No one can match your efficiency, your ruthlessness. And Natasha, not just a spy, not just toppling regimes, destroying empires from within, but an Avenger."
Kat gagged. Heartfelt moments were not her thing. "You both have killed so many people. Your ledgers must be dripping, just gushing red. I couldn't be more proud of you." Alexei pulled Natasha and Yelena into a hug, which Natasha tried her hardest to slip out of. She scoffed, walking forward to Kat.
"Come on, let's go."

"So are we there yet?" Kat kicked a rock under her foot, passing it back and forth between her and Yelena. Both girls were extremely bored and just hoping for a moment to sit down and rest.
