Peter was ecstatic. He had met his number one idle, Tony Stark, only hours ago. He had a plane waiting for him to go to Germany to fight against what he figured to be the bad guys.
His phone beeped. An incoming call from Kat. He left it to ring. He knew he was going to regret that later, but he didn't know how much.
Kat frowned. Peter had never denied her call, much less let it ring without so much as a message. Something was off, she could tell, but she couldn't dwell on it much right now.
Sitting in the back of a van, Kat watched as Steve Rogers approached. He stepped out of his car with two other men. Clint and Wanda stepped out of the car. "Cap."
"You know I wouldn't have called if I had any other choice."
"Hey, man, you're doing me a favor." He turned back to look at Wanda. "Besides, I owed a debt."
"Thanks for having my back."
Wanda tilted her head to the side. She couldn't help but think of her brother, and what his day would be in all of this. "It was time to get off my ass."
Steve nodded along to what she was saying, naturally agreeing. "And how about our other recruits?"
Walking over to the truck, Clint opened the door. "He's rarin' to go. Had to put a little coffee in him, but he should be good."
Ant-Man, otherwise known as Scott Lang, stumbled out of the car. "What time zone is this?"
When he got no response, he began to address Sam. "Hey man."
"What's up tic-tac?"
Wanda laughed at the nickname he gave Scott. Drowning out their conversation, she looked over at Clint. "Should we get her out?"
He nodded. "Probably about time. Hopefully, she doesn't put up a fight."
Entering the van, Clint whistled. "Little spider, it's time to get up. Let's go, breaking you out of prison doesn't come for free." He patted the seat beside her.
Standing, Kat rolled her shoulders back, having sat in the back of the van for hours on end. "If I wanted to escape prison, I would have."
Clint watched as she walked out of the van, pulling her hood down to reveal her face. "Pff, show off."
"They tell you what we're up against?" Steve had not yet noticed her presence.
"Something about some psycho-assassins?"
Steve shook his head. "We're outside the law on this one. So if you come with us, you're a wanted man."
"Yeah, well, what else is new?"
"I agree with you on that one." All faces turned to face Kat. Steve walked forward, holding out his hand for her to shake.
"Welcome in, kid. Looks like Clint and Wanda were successful in getting you out of the Avengers Tower, yes?"
Looking at his hand, then back up to those dashing blue eyes, Kat shook her head. "Ни хрена. No shit."
"Of course, she speaks Russian! What killer, major assassin, orphanage slayer, wouldn't speak Russian!"
Clint couldn't help but laugh at Scott's words. "Everyone in this parking lot has killed somebody, you know."
"Wait, no, I don't want to kill anybody. I just-"
Bucky pursued his lips as he interrupted Scott. "We should get going."
"We got a chopper lined up."
A man began to speak in German over the intercom. Bucky and Kat were quick to translate. "They're evacuating the airport." Kat looked at Bucky, who had just started to open his mouth but quickly closed it, seeing as she had beaten him to it.
