***Sasha
One Year Later
Sasha looked back at Anne, worried. After the summer apart, she had forgotten how manipulative her 'friend' was. She didn't cut her ties with Anne, because although she was popular and making friends was easy for her, she didn't want Marcy to receive the harsh abusive treatment that she knew she was getting. She wasn't stupid, she knew Anne had tried to manipulate her into doing stuff that she really hated herself for. Even Anne's little "End of discussion" sentence stopper had rubbed off on her, but that might have also been from her parents, who did the same thing to her. They had even just skipped school and were outside the building, per Anne's request.
"Come on, Anne, you said you wanted to have a fun birthday and this is your thirteenth birthday!" Sasha encouraged, and probably fed Anne's ego in the process, who knows, and Anne laughed. "Aww, you know me so well! I will decide what we do and where we go through. Don't want to go to anything boring." she decided, and Sasha bit her tongue to keep herself from lashing out at her. Sasha had lashed out at her once, and like always, Anne had played the victim, while Sasha had yelled at her for always puppeteering her life. The only reason they had stopped fighting was because of Marcy intervening. "Now let's go make this the best birthday ever!" Anne cheered, before dragging them out of the school and to the nearby arcade.
It was a few hours later, and Sasha and Anne were drinking frappuccinos at Starbucks. "Ah, so that's what a unicorn tastes like. Corn syrup!" Anne exclaimed, staring at her phone. Sasha was mildly annoyed, because earlier Anne had told her to put her own phone away, but she didn't complain. It was Anne's birthday, and she did want her friend to be happy, so she just sipped her drink down, not saying a word.
Suddenly, Anne's phone buzzed, and Sasha saw her eyes roll. "What is it?" Sasha asked, looking between Anne and the phone. "Nothing, just a message from my parents to be home at six for a party they're throwing for me. I might go, but if I do, I'll probably be late, I don't particularly care." Anne answered, not looking up from her phone. A few seconds later, Sasha's phone buzzed, and Sasha was slightly excited that she now had an excuse to not just sit there, bored. There was a text from Marcy.
Marzbar
I think I just found the perfect birthday present for Anne.
Sasha glanced down at her phone, then at Anne. Oh dear, Marcy why. The present was a music box with frogs on it. Anne hated frogs, and it looked like frogs were the main theme of the box. "Who is it?" Anne asked, walking over and gazing at the phone. Sasha quickly covered the screen, glaring, to which Anne did not take kindly. "Oh, I'm sorry, for being interested in your life. Next time when you want to tell me about your day I'll ignore you if you don't want me to know anything." she scoffed, once again playing the victim, but whatever, Sasha didn't care, she was just preparing for a shouting match and a lecture from Marcy. "Well, I'm sorry for trying to surprise you for your birthday. Next time I'll tell you every single little insignificant detail about my life." Sasha shot back. Anne rolled her eyes and snatched the phone out of Sasha's hands and read the message and scoffed. "That is what Marcy got me? Ew." she grimaced. Sasha stole her phone back with a glare and said, "Well if you don't want it, I'll tell Marcy and you can go to your parent's party, brat."
Sasha's eyes widened and she slapped her hands over her mouth after she had heard what she had just said. Oh no.
Once Sasha looked up, she saw that Anne had an angry, yet calm face. "What did you just say?" she hissed, making Sasha want to disappear. Sasha quickly shot back. "I called you a brat, because that's what you are. Now come on, you're going to your party and I'm picking up the music box with Marcy." Sasha snapped back, and several customers in the coffee shop were watching the two girls. Anne stared at Sasha with a furious glare plastered on her face. "No. I'm coming with you, you can't get rid of me so easily. Don't even bother trying to chase me away again. I AM coming with you. End. Of. Discussion." She snapped, causing Sasha to glare and bare her teeth before following Anne out of the Starbucks and walking to the thrift store where Marcy was.
