Marcy
Marcy woke up, her whole body tingling as though she had just been shocked. Upon sitting up and looking around, it had become obvious that she had just been shocked. She wondered why she had to be woken up like this until the thought finally hit her.
Oh. No wonder they had to shock me awake.  Marcy thought, dread swallowing her as she ran her hand down the scar on the left side of her face. And, surprisingly, and to her displeasure, Marcy accidentally poked herself in the eye. Her left eye. The one that Anne had gouged out. The Newtopia doctors had apparently both brought her back to life, and reinserted her eye into her head.
Marcy, also being ridden with shock, examined the room that she was in. It was dark, with tall metal walls. In the back was a large metal sphere and a water tank that was around the same size. But the main thing that caught her eye was the golden birdcage that was across the room from her. And in this birdcage was a very angry looking, sleeping Sasha.
Marcy tried to shout to her friend, but no voice came out. She was incredibly hoarse and dehydrated. Instead, Marcy lifted her arms up, and slammed them down onto the metal bed that she was laying on. The metal cords that were connected to her arms clashed against the metal surface, causing a loud crashing sound, which woke Sasha up.
"Huh, who is it?! Where am I?! Of course this is my natural hair color!" Sasha yelped, and it was clear that Marcy had startled her. Sasha looked towards Marcy, and her face lit up with joy. "Marcy!" Sasha gasped, tears of joy flowing down her face. "I thought you died!"
Marcy smiled at Sasha, trying to speak, but her dry throat prevented her from doing so. Sasha looked at her in concern. "Can you talk, or did Anne screw up your vocal cords?" Sasha growled, clearly wanting to kill Anne, and Marcy didn't blame her. She currently felt the same. Marcy shook her head, answering both of Sasha's questions at once. Sasha looked like she had calmed down slightly.
"Wait a second, how did you live? I saw your corpse on the floor." Sasha questioned, staring at the contraption that Marcy was hooked up to. "I didn't." Marcy croaked out, her ability to speak returning. "I was brought back to life by this machine, most likely being shocked back to life." she continued, her voice shaking as all of the nasty details from her and Anne's fight hit her like a train.
Then, out of nowhere, a hole in the wall was slowly opened. It was revealed to be a door, and two newts walked in, a pink one, and a blue one. It was Lady Olivia and General Yunaan.
Marcy made an attempt to run up and over to them, but the cords on her wrists and ankles were keeping her from moving.
The two newts ran over to Marcy, and disconnected the wires that were keeping her in place. The small stream of electricity that Marcy didn't even know was still flowing stopped, and Marcy slightly shook, while her mind was beginning to recall everything that had happened before she had been killed, not just her and Anne's fight, but everything beforehand, although some of the details stayed fuzzy.
Two newts in front of Marcy were talking, but Marcy couldn't make out any words. The room around her was slightly blurry, and littles specks started to appear in her vision. That was until Marcy shook her head rapidly, and her focus returned to the moment at hand.
There was now quite a bit of shouting going on between Sasha and Yunaan, and from Olivia who was trying to get them to stop. Then, out of nowhere, the room began to fill with some sort of heavy fog, before they were outside. Except none of them were actually outside, due to the fact that Sasha was still hanging in her bird cage.
"What is even happening anymore!?" Sasha yelled in a rage, before slamming her fists into the cage, which made a strident sound that hurt Marcy's ears, and made her cage swing rapidly. Sasha cowered back into the cage, and this was the first time Marcy had ever seen Sasha this frightened.
Then, Marcy caught sight of a figure that looked similar to Olivia. Marcy was assuming that this was Olivia's mother. Most words just filtered in and out of her ears, but what she gathered was something about taking care of Amphibia's landscape, or something like that.
Next, giant horrific grubhogs popped out of nowhere, which chased off Yunan. Marcy tried to figure out what Sasha was going through, but before she could, she was swept into her own nightmare.
Marcy looked around, before the throne room of the Newtopian castle made up her vision. And in front of her, was an oddly six eyed Anne. The six eyes on the girl were very spider-like, and Marcy could see webs hanging everywhere in the castle; there were so many they made her squirm. Marcy hated spiders with a deep passion, so it made sense that this nightmare generator would combine her two greatest fears.
"Well, Marcy. You've seemed to figure out too much, and I can't have you opening your big mouth in front of anyone else, now can I?" Anne sneered, before lunging at Marcy and slicing her neck open, just like she had done before, but this time with two small and sharp venomous fangs.
Marcy tried to scream for help, but she quickly realized that there was a web over her mouth, preventing her from doing so. But one other thing that Marcy noticed, was that the fatal attack hadn't hurt. Marcy stood up, and ran out of the freaky illusion, only for her to run into a wall, causing something to shatter. Marcy looked up at the things that her forehead had busted, and saw five circular orange eyes. And once Marcy turned around, Anne no longer had the spider atrocities on her face.
"Guys! There are a bunch of eyes on the wall!" Marcy shouted, loud enough for everyone to hear "Well what are we waiting for?" Sasha barked, "Let's get violent."
The next few minutes were of the group destroying eyes, and once the last one had been smashed, the illusion dissipated. While Olivia, Yunaan, and Sasha were celebrating their victory, Marcy laser focused on the heavy footsteps that she heard in the distance.
Andrias burst into the room, blankly staring at the four of them. "Leaving so soon? But we still have so much to discuss." he sneered, his height and glare intimidating Marcy. Everyone was screaming over each other, and Marcy was having a hard time making out any of it. One detail that she did notice though, was the eye was split through Andrias's crown. This was followed by the large metal sphere that she had noticed earlier also gaining eyes.
Sasha was screaming at Andrias, and what Marcy could pick up made her chuckle a bit. That was until she was grabbed by her face by the metal sphere. She was quickly thrown into a chair, and strapped to it. Marcy strained against the cuffs that kept her in place, but alas, she was stuck. Marcy now was fully awake and aware of the conversation around her.
"LET HER OUT YOU MANIACAL SON OF A COMET! ONCE I'M OUT I AM GOING TO BITE ALL OF YOUR FINGERS OFF AND SLICE YOUR HEAD OFF, AND-" Sasha roared, before she was promptly cut off by Andrias. "I get it, but you should quiet down before you make yourself cough up your throat." he said, sounding bored. Marcy growled, and barked out, "What even in this thing?! Let me go!"
Andrias looked at her, before looking away. "This here is the Core, a conjoinment of some of Newtopia's brightest minds, preserved for all of eternity." He said, and Marcy couldn't read his face. Sasha, on the other hand, looked absolutely livid.
"So, what I'm gathering is that this freak of nature wants to use my little Mar-Mar for something." Sasha growled, before she started cackling. Her dry laughter filled the room with a maniacal sound that shook Marcy down to her core and chilled her bones. "Have you LOST YOUR MIND?!" Sasha roared once more, banging on the cage again, so hard that it slammed into the wall where cracks could be seen. The three newts in the room covered their ears, but Marcy didn't have that luxury, and had to deal with the berserk Sasha.
"That's ENOUGH." Andrias roared over Sasha, finally getting her to become silent. "Make another sound and I snap your neck." he growled, glaring with a gaze as sharp as knives. Sasha shot an equally sharp one back and snapped, "I could rip out all of your teeth AND break your fingers before you could kill me."
Marcy watched the two bicker and argue, while Olivia and Yunaan snuck up and tried to free her. The Core, on the other hand, had other plans and whipped them both against the wall before they could get to Marcy. Andrias turned around, and walked back over to Marcy. "Let me go, or Sasha will claw that expression off of your face." Marcy threatened, but she knew she was trembling quite hard. Marcy felt a warm liquid trickling down the sides of her face, which she assumed was blood from The Core's little attack on her.
"I wish I could, but my lord craves a host. It wanted the best, the smartest. The only one who could beat me at Flipwart." Andrias said, still sounding bored. Marcy gasped, and Sasha banged on her cage again. "Honestly, Marcy, I like you. Always have. I'd beg The Core to consider an alternative host, but-" Andrias started, before being cut off by Sasha.
"Then do it you COWARD." Sasha roared, seemingly shaking the room with her deafening roar. Marcy heard a metallic sound coming from above her, and once she looked up, she saw a helmet, slowly being lowered onto her head. Marcy tried to make herself as small as possible, but it was no use.
"Marcy!" Sasha, Yunnan, and Olivia screamed out, while Andrias looked away as the helmet slowly fitted itself onto Marcy's head
The electrocuting shock that came from the shock of the helmet was torturous. The waves of electricity shook Marcy so hard that she let out a blood curdling scream. Once the electricity died down, everything went dark.

A few months later

Marcy solved the cube puzzle that was in her hands, trying to ignore the swarming negative thoughts in her head that had created their own consciousness. It was exhausting to keep up with, but at the same time, at least there wasn't any deafening silence that would make her lose her mind.
"Are you even LISTENING?" the other Marcy yelled, and she had nicknamed her Darcy. "I am listening, but you are freaking ANNOYING. I am aware of the fact that we both want to kill Anne, but could you NOT make it your entire personality?" Marcy shot back, glaring.
"That is NOT my entire personality,  and you know it. I am all of the thoughts you bury away from your 'quote on quote' friends." Darcy shot back and Marcy threw a cube puzzle at her face "I know Anne is the worst, but Sasha-" "Didn't even bat an eye when you died. How do you know that she wasn't acting? She could be just as bad as Anne. Or worse." Darcy hissed, and Marcy fumed.
"You don't know that!" Marcy yelled, only getting a smug look from Darcy. "And neither do you." she said, but before Marcy could shoot back another remark, A door came out of nowhere.
Darcy shoved her way into the door first, and Marcy followed closely behind. This room was a massive library, and Marcy looked around in wonder. She could also see that Darcy was admiring the grand sight as well. Newts in various orange cloaks lined the balconies, all reading or grabbing various books.
"Okay, I think that we can both agree that this is phenomenal." Marcy breathed, still in awe of the glorious sight. Darcy nodded, and before the two could exchange anymore, a newt that was much taller than King Andrias stepped into the room. "Welcome, Marcy Wu. My name is Aldrich. I'm here to welcome you to the Core's inner sanctum. You'll be the first human to join our ranks, a great honor." he said, and both Marcy and Darcy looked at him with confusion.
"Ah, a split in personality. This rarely happens, but I'm sure there is a fix." Aldrich inquired at the two. Marcy opened her mouth to ask a question, but Darcy beat her to the chase.
"We got a vague rundown of what 'The Core' is, what would be the defined version." Darcy asked, staring at Aldrich with intrigue. "It is a place where dreams become reality. And judging from what I am seeing in your head, Anne Boonchuy's murder could be one of them." Aldrich replied with a smile. "Okay, boom, you've convinced me. I'm in." Darcy agreed. "What about you, Marcy?"
Marcy stared up at Aldrich, and back at Darcy. "I don't think you can lure me in so easily with an assassination of my murderer. I'm not going to stoop down to Anne's level." she insisted. "If you want to convince me, you'll have to try harder."
Neither Aldrich nor Darcy looked very happy with this answer. "Marcy, and I respectfully say this, what the FU-" Marcy quickly cut off Darcy before she screamed at her. "Murder won't make me happy if I'm bored out of my mind, and I know you feel the same." She snapped, looking up at Aldrich. "Give me more of what I want, then I'll consider."
Aldrich's face didn't move an inch before he lifted his large arm up and responded with, "I see. Well maybe this will fit to your liking," After which, the library faded away, and was replaced by a fantastical world that Marcy could've only dreamed of. Marcy looked over at Darcy, who also seemed impressed.
"Okay, this is nice." Marcy said, trying to hide her massive smile. Aldrich smiled as well, before picking a large flower and handing it to Marcy. "Then it looks like we got your desires right." He said, standing back up. "Would you consider this now?"
Marcy bit her lip, before turning around to face Darcy. "What is your real opinion, because something is clearly off." Marcy worried, the perfect world tempting her to come and join their perfect display. Darcy merely snorted in response. "Don't tell me you're still hesitant. After everything he's offering." She snapped, glaring. Marcy glared right back.
"I am aware of everything that is being offered, but it's all fake. Nothing more than an illusion. I don't feel comfortable burying myself in a fake fantasy that would eventually become dry." Marcy admitted, looking up with dread as the sky turned a dark gray. "THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD BE WAITING FOR US OUT THERE IS DEATH. And I doubt The Core will save us twice." Darcy snapped, before walking away.
Marcy's head began to flood with all sorts of thoughts she'd rather push away. Would denying this deal put her on death's doorstep? Marcy let the thoughts swallow her, before they quickly flushed out, feeding Darcy's negativity. Marcy fell to the floor, and covered her eyes with her hands. But something was off. And that was that Marcy could see through her hands.
Marcy leapt up and noticed that she was becoming more transparent by the minute. She didn't know if she could fade away, but she wouldn't doubt it. "Aldrich, what's going on?" Marcy asked, her voice shaking and cracking with worry as tears stroked her pellucid cheeks. "I couldn't be sure, but it seems as though you should make your decision quickly. Wouldn't want you fading away." He told her, and Marcy choked out a final sob before finally agreeing.
"Fine. I accept." were the last words Marcy could hear herself say, before she was devoured by all of the despair and darkness she had continuously bottled up over the past few years of her short life.
