"Maddy, can you open the door." His voice calls through the door.

I walk over and unlock to door, then walk back to my previous place at the sink. The door quickly opens, the party outside violating my ears again, then quickly shuts when his slim body slides through. "You okay?" He asks from his place at the door.

"Fine, why?" I turn the faucet back on and start washing my hands.

"You just disappeared." He retorts, concern fueling his words.

"Just had to pee." I grab the towel off the hook to dry my hands. "Can I go?" I say, when I approach the door he's still standing in front of.

"You sure you're okay?" He doesn't move an inch.

"Why do you want to know so bad?" I furrow my eyebrows.

"Because I do. Just answer the question." He says sternly.

"No, but since you wanna play twenty questions, I have one. Why were you watching me?" I cross my arms over my chest, staring a whole through him.

"Why do you wanna know so bad?" He cocks his head to the side mimicking my words.

"Just tell me." I roll my eyes.

"You answer my question, I'll answer yours." He smirks.

"You're a shithead. You know that?" I scoff. I bring a hand up and rub my face before crossing it back over my body.

"How could I forget when you politely remind me everyday." He smiles. "Now, fess up." He stares waiting for my response.

"Fucking fine." I throw my arms down at my side. "I got overwhelmed. The loud music and shit. I- just, I needed a minute alone." I sigh.

"I'm sorry." He pauses taking a shaky breath. "But was that so hard?" He takes a few steps closer to me, his arms to his side.

"Okay, ass hat." I point my finger at his chest. "Your turn."

"What?" He furrows his eyebrows with a smirk.

"Why were you watching me." I ask again.

"Oh, that. hmm?" He tilts his head slightly like he's thinking.

"Eddie?" I raise my voice slightly, extremely annoyed with him at this point.

"I just like seeing you happy. I feel like I haven't seen it in a long time." He admits, his eyes bore into mine.

I'm not happy, I haven't been in years.

"It's because you haven't." I sigh. "Now if you'll excuse me." I make my attempt to shove past him, only for him to quickly move in front of me.

"Maddy, wait. Please." He pleads.

"What, Eddie? What?" My voice is barely a whisper. I'm just so tired of this. This fucked up merry go 'round. I feel like I'm getting whiplash anytime I have a fucking conversation with him.

"I mis-" His words are quickly interrupted by a loud knock at the door. "Eddie."

Fucking Christ.

"Eddie? Are you in there?" Stephanie's obnoxious voice fills the bathroom, my body shivering in response.

He just stares at me, shrugging slightly. He mouths "Say something" with raised eyebrows. She pounds at the door more aggressively.

"Give me a minute." I shout.

"Maddy?" She speaks loudly.

"Can I use the bathroom in peace!" I yell.

"Is Eddie in there?" She wiggles the locked door handle, before banging some more when she realizes it's locked.
