The air was quiet and a slight breeze gently crossed the land. The Wolf and the Jaguar stood next to each other, both staring at the numerous corpses that littered the field.

"Aye, dios mio..." Was all the Jaguar could muster out.

She looked up at the Wolf, who to her shock seemed to share her dismay. He looked down at her, seemingly at a loss for words. She could tell it weren't the deaths themselves that shocked him. It was how their lives were ripped from them for a selfish goal.

"Lobo?"
"Yes?"
"You remember how I said the type of person I hate the most is a daredevil who thinks himself immortal?"
"Yea, why?"
"I...I lied.." She said, feeling herself gently grab a bit of her friend's cloak, "It's the type of person who will slaunder the lives of others for their own selfish gain."

The Wolf nodded a bit in response, looking back up. His eyes followed the vine trail that passed through the carnage, surprisingly untouched. Then, slowly, the two began to make their way through it.

Now, the Jaguar had been around for as long as there has been life, so she's seen every way a living thing can die. However, some of these deaths seemed to make her fur stand up on end with how...gratuitous these deaths seemed.

"La Muerte, could I oblige you for something?"

"What?"

"Could we....take a second to pay our respects?"

The Wolf turned to face her, with his expression seeming almost upset at her for even suggesting such a thing. Then, his eyes softened and he let out a small sigh.

"Alright, sure."

The two made their way to a nearby tree, with The Jaguar crouching down and gently touching her hand to the ground. With her touch, the ground began to move ever so slightly. The grass seemed to turn healthier than before and around the dead bodies, golden marigolds began to sprout. The Jaguar stood back up and walked over to the Wolf, who was standing nearby. They stood in a sort of respectful silence for a moment as they watched the growing flowers.

"Was it their time?" The Jaguar asked.
"We couldn't know, La Vida." The Wolf responded.

The Jaguar then felt the vine she was unintentionally gripping yank a bit, looking down to realize she was standing on it. She stepped off of it, feeling it pull her a bit.

"He may be close." She mused.
"Let's go, then."

The two then began to quickly chase the length of the vine, hoping to catch up to their target in due time.
