"Mountain of containment" I said as I did my best to trap the monster. My team and I were barely able to hold out for much longer. We had used all of our strength to fight off this monster and thankfully none of us had been injured. "Do any of you have any strength left to kill this monster?" I asked as I fell to my knees in exhaustion. "No none of us have any strength left to fight this monster. We just need to hold out until our captain arrives to help us" one of them said from behind me. I turned my head to face them annoyed that I had to do all the work and kill this monster. When I turned my head back around I saw a young boy standing next to the monster and its head lying on the ground a couple feet ahead of me. I instantly recognized the child as the captain of Pearl. He had a very depressed look on his face as he jumped off the hill I had created to trap the monster. "Is everyone alright?" the boy asked with an upset tone. "We're all fine just exhausted after having been caught off guard by that monster" I said as I stood up. "It's a good thing I arrived just in time, otherwise I would never be able to forgive myself for letting you all down," the boy said with an upset tone. "Don't worry about us, we are also to blame for not calling in backup to help with this monster. So please accept our apology for making you save us" I said with concern. "There's no need to thank me. But I would like to ask you if you would train under me and I train you to become more powerful" the boy said as he looked me in the eyes. I looked at him in shock that a high ranking member, especially one that's power far surpassed the current captain of squad Divine if the rumors were proven to be true. I turned to the rest of my team who were shocked that a captain was asking me to train under them. "No way Dylan is being asked by Zane Destiny to train under them '' one of them said in disbelief. "If this alright with you Captain of squad Pearl I would like to ask the captain of squad Damascus and see what he thinks" I said with concern. "It's alright take your time and think it over I"m not forcing you to do something you don't want to" Zane said as he left. "The most powerful member of the monster hunter core is asking Dylan to train under him. I'm so jealous of you Dylan" one of my comrades said with shock. "That boy is only around ten years old isn't he. Yet he is asking me as if he's fought more battles than the other captains even though he is only captain of squad Pearl" I said with shock. The recon team came rushing over to us and took us back to base for treatment and food. That's when my captain came up to me with a smile on his face. "So I've heard from the rest of our squad that the captain of squad Pearl wants you to train under him" my captain asked with a smile. "Yes it's true captain Austin but I'm not sure if I want to train under him" I said with concern. "I don't blame you for being nervous Dylan. But Zane Destiny is the most powerful member of the core. I've seen his power first hand just a few months ago when we were members of squad Raven. After that day Zane challenged the captain of squad Pearl and took his place well. I took over squad Dimascus after the last captain died only a couple weeks ago. I promise you that you won't regret training under Zane. Maybe you'll be able to complete captain training and become the captain of squad Delta or Divine" Captain Ausitn said with a smile. "If you believe that I am capable of such a feat then I will do as you say captain" I said in a nervous tone. "Alright well Zane said that once you made your decision to come find him as soon as possible to begin training" Austin said as he put a hand on my shoulder. After I finished eating I ran to find captain Zane and tell him that I was willing to train under him. Once I told him my decision he seemed happy like he saw potential that I would one day surpass him in power. "Well then shall we begin training then" he asked. "Yes we should start," I replied with a smile. The next day I awoke at 6 am and began training under him. The first thing he taught me was the easiest thing during our training for me to learn. That being swordsmen ship and how to extend your body to the edge of your blade. I thought that because it was that easy to learn I thought the rest of my training would be easy. No I was wrong and after I mastered swordsmen ship is when things became much harder. I began waking at the same time Zane did every morning, being 5:15 am and quickly eating breakfast. Then I began my day by doing 100 pushups, 100 sit ups, and a two mile long run with my weapon and two 20 pound weights on my back. The first day I collapsed after only half a mile of running because my body was already at its limits from the pushups. But even then I didn't give up and I stood back up and started running again. I had every doubt in my mind that I wouldn't be able to meet Zane's expectations. That I would fail him in some way during this training but that didn't deter me and actually made me want to train even more. When I finally made it back to base Zane quickly ran over to me and took the weights off my back. After I finished my run he allowed me to shower and eat a snack to get my energy back up. Then we got back to training with the sword to make sure I wouldn't forget his teachings. My body was already at its limits from the pushups and the run. Thankfully Zane was called to go with his squad to take care of a monster leaving me to rest and catch up with my squad. "So you've been training with Zane for a week and haven't given up yet" Captain Austin said as he walked up to me. "Yes I have Captain Austin but I'm having my doubts about all of this" I said with concern. "I understand that you're nervous and anxious about all of this. But so were the others Zane trained. Sure his training methods are harsh but all of this has a deeper meaning and you'll see that improvement soon" Captain Austin said with a smile. "Others have attempted to train under Captain Zane" I asked with shock. "Yes you're not the only one he has tried to train at least two others with the same training he did when he was just starting out as a monster hunter. He may not be the best teacher but he definitely is making progress with you and I saw it just a couple days ago when you fought that last monster" Captain Ausitn said with a small laugh and smile. "Thank you Captain Austin for giving me a reason to keep on fighting and training under Captain Zane" I said as I put my hand out. Captain Austin just smiled and shook my hand giving me the confidence to continue training with everything I had. More days went by and I started seeing the improvements I was making with the training. My body was becoming even more strong but that's when the training became much harder. Captain Zane began running with me and attempted to stop me by setting up traps along the path I ran. This made me have to hesitate and go slower than normal and take my time around the traps. Still I was able to overcome them and dodge the traps he set up. That was until he started running with me and would attack me at random times. I ended up having to learn to fight and run so I could continue on without more problems. All of this spanned three months and then Zane said he had nothing left to teach me and encouraged me to attempt Captain training. So I did and I passed and was able to become the next Captain of squad Damascus after Austin took command over squad Pearl well Captain Zane took over Platinum. It was as if Zane believed in me and who took the time to train me in fighting off these monsters. I thank him for putting the time and effort into training me.
