Chapter 17

"Awaken Zane and hear my voice" A man's voice said. As I opened my eyes I was in a dark void that surrounded me with nothing in sight. "Finally now we can begin our meeting properly" the voice said. "Who are you and how do you know my name?" I asked in frustration. "You know exactly who I am and have said my name on countless occasions" the voice replied. My face went from frustration to shock as I had no idea what he was talking about. "What is all of this about? I've never heard your voice before and I've never uttered your name" I said as I lit my hand ablaze. "You have even said my name before you met me. I am the one who has helped you fight these monsters. I have been by your side fighting alongside you. It's as if we are one" the voice said. "Cut the crap I have no idea what you mean" I said as the flames on my hand became even more intense. "Fine Zane if you don't believe me then don't. But there are others like me who fight alongside the rest of squad Divine. They just haven't had the ability to access them yet" the voice said in a calm tone. "Who the hell are you? Show yourself before I burn the area around you?" I said in frustration. "I am with you right now as we speak," the voice replied. I put my other hand on the hilt of my sword and prepared to attack. "I don't see you meaning that you can't be with me" I said as I pulled my sword out. "Oh really then what is in your hands right now" the voice said in a soothing tone. "My sword is in my left hand and my blazing night in the other" I said in frustration. "That is who I am," the voice replied. I stopped dead as shock and horror came over me rushing through me in one big wave. "Your Night blade" I said in shock. "Yes I am the sword you wield in battle" the voice replied in a sincere tone. "So you're the one I felt when I first grabbed my sword when I felt my very soul attach to the blade" I said in shock. "Yes the material you call Divinite is a special material that can manifest a being from the person who makes contact with it" the voice said in a calming tone. "So why are you telling me all of this now when you could have made yourself known when I needed you most" I said in frustration. "Because that wasn't the time nor the place. Right now you're on the verge of life and death and sadly this isn't the ideal time to tell you of my existence" the voice replied. "So when was the ideal time for telling me your existence?" I asked in frustration. "The best time was when you were fighting your last battle before you activated your dark overflow. But since you were too focused on defending yourself and others I didn't want to distract you. When you first picked me up I bonded with your very soul and a personality was created to match and be different enough to work with you as one. So if one of your comrades picked me I would sadly die and a new personality would be created" the voice said in a soothing tone. "What does any of this mean then and why make yourself known?" I was confused. "Together we can work as one and be able to overcome obstacles that you couldn't handle alone. You will see yourself gain even more power by knowing my existence and being able to hear my voice. Now do you understand why I'm calling out to you. I want to lend you my power because I am now a part of you, a bond that can't be severed. Now do you understand me" the voice said in a calming tone. "Yes I do Night blade. Now let's go and show these monsters what the hell they're messing with" I said as I opened my eyes.

"Captain Zane you're awake" A member of squad heart said in shock. "Yes, where's my squad?" I asked in a stern tone. "Currently out fighting a worded monster and they need help" Adam said as he entered the room. "Alright get Captain Jacob the two of us will head out together and help my squad" I said as I got out of bed. "I don't think so Zane you don't have the strength to fight just yet. Your body has already passed its limits and I can't say you'll be able to make it" Adam said in concern. "I don't care Adam I'll be fine besides what can you do to stop the captain of squad Divine" I said as I grabbed my sword from the table next to me. "Alright fine but I'm going with you in case of emergency" Adam said in an annoyed tone. "Alright tell Jacob the plan and will head out" I said as I left the room. As soon as captain Jacob joined us we left and headed towards the battle field and I took Adam into the shadow realm to watch the fight unfold. But we didn't expect the fight to go the way it did. "Adam, do you see that monster up there?" I said as I pointed at a monster atop that building. "I do and he looks to be these Codas the last monster talked about" Adam replied in a concerned tone. "Lets watch and see what happens" I said as the monster jumped from the building. "He has intense magical power," Adam said in shock. "He does but we have no clue what his word even means as they" I said as I focused my sights on the monster. As the monster explained his magical power to us I tried to find a way to exploit it and make it his weakness. He fought with my squad and Jacob and then made all of them fall to their knees in shock and horror. "Adam I need you to use a spell that will mask my dark figures and look like me so I can save them" I said as I created multiple dark clones. "Alright will have to leave your shadow realm though for a moment" he replied with worry. I quickly put Adam on the roof of a building and then sent one of my shadows out behind the monster to attack. Then I grabbed Rylie and quickly retreated back into the shadows as the monster turned around. I quickly put Rylie down and brought Adam back into the shadows. "Zane, is it really you?" Rylie asked with concern. "It's me, Rylie" I said with a small smile. "Mountain of containment" the monster said as he trapped one of my clones. "Heh that's not going to work" I said as another clone attacked the monster. I then surrounded the monster with four more clones and the monster had a look of shock as he asked me why he couldn't copy my abblites. I happily obliged and told him that I was in the shadow realm and told Adam to release the spell over them. My dark clones lost their appearance leaving them as nothing more than dark figures. The monster did his best to combat them and Dylan put up a barrier to protect themselves from his attacks. This allowed me to tell my squad my plan and what I was going to do. Me and Adam then returned to the shadow realm and I decided to change my plan. "Adam, let's go with a different plan. Instead of trying to hijack his mind let's send out two dark clones and make them look like us. This will make the monster think he kills us but then we release the power and kill him well he's distracted. False hope" I said as I created dark figures. Adam then made both of them look like us and I sent them to the surface to fight the monster. "Are you sure this is a good idea because we didn't tell the others our plan?" Adam asked with concern. "Don't worry about that if we told them our new plan then their reactions won't be genuine. I need them to actually think we're dead" I said as I watched the monster kill the clones. He then brought down Dylan's barrier that protected them and all of them had looks of shock on their faces. Alyssa charged the monster and was thrown back with Jacob catching her. He was mad and quickly sliced a wound into the monster's back and then teleported in front of the monster stabbing his eyes out. "Alright now's your chance Zane" Adam said in confidence. "False hope over" I said as the clones disappeared. "Thank you Jacob will take it from here" Adam said as we came out of the shadows. I put my hand on the hilt of my sword and allowed my soul to intertwine with night blade. "Are you ready for this Zane?" Night Blade asked. I charged the monster and quickly chopped him into little pieces in the blink of an eye, lighting him ablaze and turning him to ashes. "Burn in hell you damn bastard" I said as the monster turned to ash. "Thank you Night blade for helping me" I said as I turned around. And as I turned around my body felt weak and exhausted and I fell to the ground losing consciousness.
