Chapter 25

"Hey, have you seen Zane?" I asked as I entered the training yard. "Ya he and his squad were just called to go into battle" Aleah replied as she turned around. "I see, thank you for letting me know" I said in an upset tone as I turned around. "Hey Kara is something bothering you" Aleah asked as she walked up to me and put a hand on my shoulder. "Everything's fine Aleah don't worry about me" I said as I began to walk back towards the building. "You still have feelings for Zane don't you" she said with a sigh. "That has nothing to do with me asking where he is," I said as I turned around with tears in my eyes. "You're upset because you weren't the one that filled the gap in his broken heart. You wanted to be the one by his side after the loss of his squad and adoptive father but before you got your chance he was stolen by the girl you blame" Aleah said in a pissed tone. "No that isn't true" I said as I tried to dry the tears from my eyes. "Then why are you upset? Because I know you better than that little sis. The look in your eyes whenever someone says his name. The smile you get on your face when he walks into the room. Because if that isn't the reason you're upset then please enlighten me on the true reason you're upset" Aleah said in a pissed tone. "Like you would truly ever understand my reasoning because you always claim I'm overreacting or even making it seem like I'm the bad guy" I said in frustration. "I know you better than anyone in the world, little sis. You used to tell me how much you wanted to be with Zane and how you wanted to start a family with him after this war was over. Now you see that the dream ahead of you is falling apart because Rylie was the one to fill that gap in his broken heart. I understand your upset that he was taken by another but that doesn't mean that you can't be a part of his life even if it means that you're not the one by his side" Aleah replied in a pissed tone. "Imprison bubble" I said as I trapped her inside a force field bubble. "You really want to fight me over something so stupid" Aleah said as she tried to escape from my force field. I started to make it smaller as she tried even harder to escape knowing that I was no longer playing around and that she had angered me. "Apologize for what you said to me Aleah" I said in frustration. "Why would I because we both know that my words hold no lies and that I'm telling you the truth" Aleah said as she tried even harder to escape. "Alright that's enough Kara" Austin said as he entered the training yard. I quickly released my sister knowing that if I continued hurting her then Austin would hurt me. My sister gasped for air as she fell to her knees. Austin ran over to her and helped her stand giving me a dirty look that said he was disappointed in me. "Thank you dear" Aleah said as he let go of him. "I heard everything you two were talking about and I can see why you're upset Kara but that's no reason to hurt your sister. As a captain of the monster hunter core you have to set the example for the cadets. If you claim to know Zane the best out of anyone then you would know that he never would harm a member of the core for a pitiful reason" Austin said in frustration. "Why should I listen to you?" I replied in a pissed tone. "Because very few people have actually gotten to even get close enough to Zane. He keeps all of his pain and suffering to himself and only tells people what happened to him when they ask. Have you ever actually heard him tell someone out of the blue why his heart is full of turmoil. He doesn't ask for help because he doesn't want to be a burden to those he holds close. Only three people in this world have ever been close enough to Zane for him to open up as much as he has. Those three are Commander Nickolas, Commander Nathan, and his brother Jason. You think he and Rylie are really close when in reality they really aren't. If you look dead center at their relationship you can see only a fraction of the picture. Zane is still very hesitant with her and doesn't completely trust her as much as you believe him to. Don't forget Zane has lost everything right before his very eyes and the fact that he is still even alive today is something that everyone is shocked about. Commander Nathan himself told me that he's surprised that Zane didn't kill himself after the deaths of Nickolas and Jason. So you still have a chance to be able to take a place in his heart. You just need to give it a shot and actually try to help him. That is why Rylie was able to take a place in Zane's broken heart because she wanted to see him heal from the wounds of his past. Sitting here and crying and moaning about her taking a place in his heart isn't helping. Now if I ever see or hear something like this happen again I will report you to Commander Nathan myself and have you removed as a captain. Now Aleah are you ready for our date" Austin said in frustration. "Yes I am," Aleah said in a nervous tone. They both left, leaving me alone. I just stood there in shock as Austin usually didn't raise his voice or even yell at anyone. He didn't like to as he felt it to be nothing more than rude to the people below you. Still my anger was still deep within me that he stopped me from punishing my elder sister. "One day Zane will be mine and I will make sure of that. Then everyone will see that we're meant to be together" I said in a pissed tone.
