Once we arrived home, Phil was busy watering the plants in the front yard. "Papa!" Dil yelled, as he burst out the car door running up to Phil. Phil turned and beamed at the sight of Dil. He opened his arms and they both hugged each other tightly. "How was school Dily?" He asked. Dil smiled, "Great! We learned about squid!" I laughed to myself. Phil smiled. "That's nice. What'd you learn about them?" Phil picked Dil up by his sides and swung him around. "Well," Dil started. "They have one eye, and a beak! I thought only birds had beaks!" He said looking surprised. "Wow," Phil said. "That sounds INKcredible! See what I did there Dan!" I face planted my palm against my forehead. "Guys," I said tapping my watch. "Remember, two hours till the fall festival." Phil nodded and set Dil down. I walked into the house and walked up the stairs to our bedroom. I set my keys on the dresser and took off my black leather jacket. Suddenly, I heard someone in the hall. I turned and saw Phil standing at the door. "Hey." I said waving. He walked in and sat on the bed. "Dan?" he asked me nervously. "I've been thinking." At this point I sat down next to him. "Bout what?" I asked. He looked into my eyes. His eyes were so beautiful, sea foam blue with a tint of green and yellow. "About what Dil said. Is this normal? The life we've given him. I don't know Dan, it bothering me." He rubbed his arm and looked with a far off gaze towards the wall. "Phil," I said putting a hand on his back. He leaned into my side and swear I felt a tear drop onto my shoulder. "We've given him everything we can. He will be fine, he just needs to except what his life is. Look at me." I said , lightly pushing his chin making him look at me. "You are an incredible father and the best husband I could ask-" I was soon cut off by Phil pressing his lips against mine. "I love you Daniel, and always have." I smiled. He was the best,
