"I don't believe you," Daechul spat. "You're only trying to make me falter."

Doyoung became grim, "The last thing I want to do is make lies about our mother. I don't want to tear you down — you're the only family I have left. I want to tear his family apart. The man you've called father your entire life."

She swallowed hard, feeling another harsh impact on her soul, "Lies. Just more of them."

"I could care less about your business as long as you're alive," he stated, "I don't care how many gangs you have control of or what you deal around. And even if you don't choose my side of the fight, I'm still bringing your step-father's family to ashes. I'd rather you choose the safer side — my side — but that's your choice. Just avoid my bullets, they'll hurt."

"You can't be serious," she began shaking her head in disbelief but his expression said otherwise.

Doyoung pulled something out of his coat pocket and shoved it in her hand, "Treat me to a coffee or something when you want to talk. You're obviously not going to listen to me now. But if I did give you something to chew on and you're curious, stop by the Bangtan Residence for the records. Namjoon has them."

Daechul stared at the business card he had placed in her hand. Once again, someone had shoved a harsh and hidden reality in her face. She didn't understand why no one could have told her sooner. It always had to be the "for your own good" excuse, right? Yet, hiding the truth seemed to do more harm than good for someone. There were so many insecurities that had found their way into her head lately, but she knew one thing was true: she had to find the truth. The real truth. From there, she would have to make a decision.

"If this is the case," she began, stepping forward and making Doyoung turn to face her again, "Why not come with me for a...family reunion?"

"I'm not setting foot inside that place unless it's to destroy it," he answered.

Nodding, she stuffed the business card in her coat, "Fair enough. Coffee it may be." She began to leave but halted, scanning the other gangs for a certain face. He was standing off to the side, looking as though he was attempting to hide. "Oh, right," she made eye contact with him, "I'm also interested in how you're a part of this mess."

He gave her a guilty gaze.

"Doyoung, bring Joshua with you next time," she told him, "I'd like to speak to him as well."

"Fine," Doyoung shrugged, glancing at the uncomfortable male.

Finally, Daechul left. She told her driver to leave the car with her and go with the others. Everyone on her side pulled out of the operation and went back to their own respective business. Soobin was an exception though, he was going to collect the records from Namjoon. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that she wouldn't be able to face him right now. She might do something that she would regret later.

And the next thing she would have to sort out was Taehyung. She cared for him deeply, but if there was a rift between the gangs that might have to change. Even her relationship with Yoongi would have to change. They were close confidants but that wouldn't be possible if Daechul chose Doyoung's side. But that would be up for debate after her possession of the records.

Upon reaching the Bangtan Residence, she sent Soobin inside with detailed instructions. He was on edge with all of the tension but she assured him that he would be fine. He came out minutes later with a file and a concerned Taehyung following behind.

A dagger impaled her heart.

Soobin hurriedly climbed into the passenger's seat and handed the papers to her, "I don't know how you'll feel about the information..."

Taehyung made it to the car and placed his hands on the car door, "Dae, what's going on? Talk to me, please."

She ignored him momentarily and scanned the papers. Doyoung was telling the truth. She wasn't sure if she should be relieved or upset. But that was how it had been lately anyway — unsure how to react, how to feel, what to do.

"Love?" he reached into the car, placing a gentle hand on her arm.

Slowly setting the file on the dashboard in front of her, she met his worried eyes, "I'm about to make a choice for the both of us and I'm doing it because I love you. Let's stop...us. I need a clear head and... I just — I need to go. I'm really sorry, Tae."

He backed away as she pulled out, the engine roaring and his heart breaking.
