"Where are you off to?" Hyunjin asked, following Daechul towards the front door. Pulling a jacket over her shoulders, she turned to him.
"Back to the Bangtan Residence," she replied, opening the door, "I need to talk to Namjoon. He was finally about to open up to me but I got a call from Mingi that Seonghwa had been shot so I had to leave."
Hyunjin folded his arms uncomfortably, "Oh, I see."
"He got a call from Yunho's phone but no one answered, so he went to the location given," she explained, "but Yunho was actually in a training room the whole time and never called. Seonghwa was attacked and luckily one of the boys found him before he lost too much blood."
"They don't know who called?"
Daechul shrugged, making her way down the steps and approaching her car, "Nope, and a gang wants to meet up with us Friday. Weird thing is, they want me there as well."
Hyunjin frowned, "That's...strange. It sounds like some sort of trap."
She nodded, pausing thoughtfully, "Yes, I suppose so."
"What are you gonna do about NCT and Seventeen?"
"To be honest, I don't know," she admitted, climbing into the driver's seat, "But if I do know one thing, it's that I sure do have my work cut out for me."
It didn't take long for her to get on the main road and start heading towards the Bangtan Residence. But as luck would have it, she noticed there was road construction ahead. Traffic cones guided away to a different route but unfortunately, it would take a bit longer to get home. Sighing, she called Mingi in hopes of some good news.
"Hello?" his voice spoke on the other end of the call.
"How's Seonghwa?" Daechul asked.
"He hasn't woken up yet, but he's doing fine," he answered, "We're hoping that he wakes up later today."
A small sigh of relief escaped her lips, "Good. How is everyone else?"
"The boys didn't find anyone last night but they did find something and I think it's worth coming over here to take a look."
"It can wait, I need to talk to Namjoon first," she stated.
Mingi hesitated, "No...I think this is a bit more urgent."
Frustrated, her car came to a screeching halt, "What could possibly be more important than talking to Namjoon?!"
"Umm a threat to all of us," he said, "And I really value my life right now so it would be nice if you came over and helped us fix this mess."
"Fair," she reasoned, making a U-turn and heading in the opposite direction of her original destination. It seemed her chat with Namjoon would have to wait a bit longer.
She had to admit that she was angry that she hadn't been able to talk to her older brother. It had been a pleasant surprise to her that he had actually wanted to open up to her. If she was honest, all of the mafia stuff was really starting to wear on her but she wouldn't tell anyone else that — her pride wouldn't allow her to.
It worried her that Bangtan was up against NCT and Seventeen as well, though she wasn't completely sure what they wanted. In total, there were thirty-four members and that was a lot compared to Bangtan which consisted of eight if you included her. By the time you also added the soldiers under each capo...that would be even more to go against.
If worse came to worse, she could send an order for ATEEZ and EXO to aid her brother's gang. Assuming Stray Kids would come to help since they were close to Bangtan. The only trouble with that plan was that ATEEZ was already dealing with a current situation and she still wasn't sure if it was connected to the incident the day before or not. And if it was, they and Stray Kids weren't on the best of terms at the moment anyway.
She groaned, feeling pressured. Whatever happened to simple negotiations and apologies? Or maybe just leaving each other alone and minding their own business? She'd prefer it if everyone just stayed in their own lane, but of course, everyone else seemed to dislike that idea.
Parking the car, she saw Yeosang appear in the doorway of ATEEZ's current warehouse. They were trying to lay low and avoid contact with the majority of other mafiosi — including Stray Kids. Ever since they rescued a fellow member from the latter group they've been "hiding away" as you might call it.
"You're back," Yeosang greeted, "Good, we have a lot to talk about — mainly our survival — which as you know is kinda in danger at the moment."
Daechul nodded, walking past him, "I am aware. You all sure do get irritable when it comes to your lives at stake..."
"And you don't?"
"No," she answered blankly, "Only when I'm forced to marry someone."
Rolling his eyes, he led her down the small hallway to the makeshift medical room where Seonghwa had been the night before, "Well listen, I don't think any of us really felt like having to put up with some dumb shit that a stupid gang is pulling on us so please be forgiving with our poor attitudes."
Daechul paused, eyes widening as she watched the male stand in the doorway of the medical room. She had never known Yeosang to curse or become so upset and irritated before. Something more than a death threat had to be bothering him — not that he wouldn't be upset over a threat, just that normally he was able to remain composed and had success during past threats.
"Hey," stepping closer, she placed a hand on his shoulder, "What's going on? You aren't normally like this."
Sighing, he tilted his head toward her, "It's just some stuff with Hyeseung. She's been able to regain most of her memory but..."
She crossed her arms, studying the male, "But?"
"But she still can't remember me," he sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, "It's frustrating and hurts. Part of me just wants to hold her and pray that she'll just somehow remember me but the other wants to make Stray Kids pay for their actions."
Daechul understood his feelings, she had met Hyeseung a few times before. The girl and Yeosang had been high school sweethearts until she was sent back home to the US during her parents' divorce. Eventually, she made it back to South Korea but some things happened and she ended up losing her memory while in Stray Kids' "care". She had to admit she was a little pissed with them over that whole situation, but then again it hadn't really been her business.
"But you two are still together, right?" she inquired.
He nodded, "Yeah, fortunately. It's just...hard, especially right now."
"Right," she agreed, "That's why we need to solve this soon."

A/N:
Hi, it's been a hot minute since I've updated...hehet. This was a special birthday update so I hope you enjoyed. <3
I'm thinking about returning to a normal updating schedule soon because, if I'm honest, I do miss writing new content for you guys. Sure, editing is fun and all but it's always a thrill to post a newly written chapter and wait for comments to appear. Plus, I'm kinda back into a routine for school so it won't be as difficult to write more.
Also, any "Amnesia" readers here? I thought I'd make a little reference to Yeosang's relationship with Hyeseung from my other ff (as he's still dealing with that situation).
