The next day, Daechul called for a special council meeting. There had never been one like it before — with each boss from each of the mafia families under her. Small meetings had taken place before, but never one with everyone. The main reason was to avoid scuffles and possible tension. A normal council meeting usually consisted of the bosses arranged at a large table with their underboss and consigliere behind them, but Daechul ordered everyone besides the bosses to wait outside. She knew something was bound to happen during the discussion.

Daechul entered the meeting room, the bosses standing once she was seated at the head of the table. Once everyone was in their seats she began.

"Certain information was brought to my attention recently and I fear that it may call or result in a war," she announced, shifting her gaze to each individual boss. "I've called you here for a council meeting so you have the chance to back out and avoid possible loss."

Soobin glanced around uncomfortably before speaking up, "Is this related to the NCT issue?"

Daechul nodded, "It is. Bangtan has betrayed me and lost my trust."

The bosses erupted into a series of confused and stunned questions.

"I'm giving you the choice to stay with me or protect your gangs instead," she spoke over them. "I'll respect each of your decisions but know that depending on what choice you make, you may be in my line of fire."

Jackson leaned onto the table, "But I supply both you and Namjoon's families...?" The look he received from her was answer enough — he had to choose a side or step away completely. "Right."

"I'm sorry that the decision is going to be difficult," she apologized, "I didn't envision that it would come to this. But we need to come to a conclusion in our decisions today. I'll give you a few minutes to think."

Everyone sat in silence, a violent silence.

"I'll take your answers now," Daechul stated, "We'll begin with Jaebum."

"I'm in as long as I get paid," he answered.

Shownu shrugged, with Suho nodding in agreement, "We're in too."

"We're on your side Dae," Hongjoong said, wearing a resolved expression.

That left Chan, Soobin, and Jackson.

Daechul normally wouldn't have given Soobin and the boys a choice, but she knew how much they cared for both sides. She cared for them too, as if they were her own younger brothers. She wanted to give them a chance to get out.

Jackson let out a defeated sigh, "If Jaebum is in then I am too."

Soobin shook his head, "I don't want to get into this. I know the others won't either. Bangtan are our brothers."

Even though Daechul had known they would step away, it still broke her heart. She had trained the boys since they were teenagers; to her, they were still just kids. She had brought them into such a dangerous place, and they were still just innocent kids.

Chan gave Daechul a defeated look, "I don't know Dae... I don't want my men to get involved in something like this. It just doesn't seem...I don't know. I don't think I can join in on this one. I'm sorry."

This was a slap to the face for her. Out of any of them, she had expected Chan to have her side. She had expected all of Stray Kids to have her side. She couldn't help but feel betrayed by them also.
