JJ's POV:
We are engaged. I was going to marry the love of my life. I never thought I ever had a chance with Kie and now she was my fiancé. She was still asleep in my arms and I left to go back home later tonight.
I didn't want to leave her, ever. She looked so peaceful when she was sleeping. Last night she told me she wanted to keep the wedding lowkey and simple. We both knew we couldn't afford much, but either way it didn't matter because Kie was going to be the most beautiful bride.
I got lost in thoughts until she woke up and said, "Watching me sleep, huh, creeper"
"You do the same thing to me" I said leaning in to kiss her and she slightly pulled away as she hated morning kisses. She hated them because she didn't want me to smell her morning breath, which was never that bad
"You know I don't give a shit about morning breath" I said and she leaned back in to kiss me
Our kiss broke and I said, "My plane takes off at ten tonight, so we have all day to be together. Whatever you want to do, we're doing it"
"You're going to get home so late"
"I know, but it means I get to spend more time with you"
"Aww, you're such a good fiancé" She said smiling using her new favorite word
We got up, got ready, had breakfast and then we went surfing. It was kind of our thing to do together. We came back to her house after we ate lunch and took a shower. All Kie wanted was for me to hold her. So we laid back in her bed and she curled up in my arms as we looked at her wedding Pinterest board and watched a movie.
It was time to go to the airport and Kie didn't want me to leave, I didn't want to leave. Kie drove me to the airport and she hugged me goodbye. This goodbye was the hardest for some reason. I have her one last kiss before I got out of the car and went inside the airport. I flew home and was at work, the next day, my boss and co-workers congratulated me on the engagement.
I was super excited, but I was also sad that Kie wasn't here with me. Kie and I talked nonstop which helped both of us. My boss saw I was missing Kie and he sat down with me and said, "JJ, respectfully, you're fired from this office for a bit"
"What?" I asked panicking
"Relax, you know I'd never fire you. However, I want you to work remotely in Florida so you can be with Kiara. You can do most of your job remotely anyway and we have that meeting coming up that you can come back for. Listen, being apart from my wife sucks and I hate it. I see how miserable you are, so go and be with her. Your office will be waiting for you when you get back"
We talked and got things finalized over the next few days. I told Kie and she was so excited for me to be in Florida with her. I packed my bags and joined her a few days later. We got our schedules figured out and I pretty much just worked out of her bedroom while she was in class.
Kie and I talked about wedding plans and we both knew we wanted to keep it simple. We were going to get married on the beach back home with just our friends and Kie's family. I might invite my cousin Ricky, but that was about it.
I loved living with Kie as it allowed us time to go out together at night. Tonight, we were going for a walk on campus when Dylan showed up. He said, "Can't believe you picked this guy to be with forever"
"Fuck off, Dylan" Kie said annoyed with him
I wrapped my arm around Kie and we walked away form Dylan. I whispered as a joke, "You sure you don't want him instead of me?"
"Fuck no" She said kissing me
We went back to her college house and watched a movie in bed while Kie worked on her homework. I played with her hair and rubbed her back as watched her do her homework. It looked hard. I was never good at school.
I loved living with Kie, even if we were sharing a tiny ass room. She was taking her finals today and then she graduated in two days. I was so proud of her.
I was busy helping her pack up her room to move back to OBX after graduation. She really didn't have much here. Her dad was bringing his truck down with a trailer to bring back all the big items like the bed and the dresser. She told me just to toss her clothes into the various large bags she had in her closet.
I started doing exactly what she said when I opened one of her drawers and saw a collection of my clothes that she stole from me. She had two t-shirts and two sweatshirts, plus a pair of my joggers. I looked at her and said, "I found your secret stash of my clothes"
Kie looked at me and smiled. "I love wearing your clothes"
"Why? Your clothes are so much nicer than mine. You have fucking designer shit and you're telling me that you'd rather wear this ratty old t-shirt of mine"
"Yeah, because it smells like you and makes me feel close to you when you're far away"
"It looks better on you anyway... You know, maybe we can just switch wardrobes. I'll give you all my clothes and I'll all just wear all yours"
She started laughing and then she kissed me. Her graduation happened a few days later and she graduated with honors. I was so proud of my girl. We got lots of cute pictures. Her parents were very polite to me.
They took Kie out to celebrate and we were all at a restaurant talking. Her parents asked if she had any jobs lined up yet. She didn't seem interested in that.
"Actually, JJ and I have been talking about going a little trip. A surf trip"
Mike and Anna looked at each other and then back at us. I could tell they weren't thrilled but Anna smiled and Mike said, "Sounds like it will be quite the adventure"
"Yeah, it will be. I just need to do something crazy and fun before I commit to working for the rest of my life. Finding a job and planning a wedding is a lot. JJ and I have talked and we need to do this. We're only going for the summer and we'll be back in September"
"Can't wait to hear all about it" Anna said
We finished eating and then we were spending one more night before headed back to the Outer Banks. Mike and Ann went to a hotel and Kie and I went back to our room.
