Finally, summer has arrived again! I'm ready to go on all sorts of fun adventures, accompanied by my best friend, Louisa Carlson. Like I want us to go on a bike ride around Kerkira (Corfu Town), go fishing with my cousin Akis, and get served at the smileys tavern by my other cousin, Tomas while watching the twins dance to Sirtaki. And I'll take her to Roda beach and down to Sidari as well. I think I'm a bit too excited, but oh well! It's gonna be the best summer ever, and once again I'll make more friends!

Although at the same time, maybe making new friends isn't so ideal. At the end of summer, they will all have to go home like always, and I'll probably never see them again. Though I'm used to it by now, years and years of this have become bearable, but it still hurts. Living in one of the most gorgeous countries may be fun, but it has its disadvantages.

As I approach the airport, I feel my smile widen. In a few minutes, I'll finally be reunited with my best friend. We met 2 years ago when I spent a year in England for my studies. I ended up sharing a room with her at university, and ever since we've been the best of friends. When I had to come back home, we made a promise that we would still stay in contact, and that's exactly what we've done.

I waited outside of her terminal, balancing my weight on each of my feet. I saw a few people walk through, and then I saw Louisa. She dropped her bags as we ran at each other engulfing each other in the biggest hug humanly possible.

"Lou Lou!" I squealed, not even the darkest of rain clouds could have ruined my mood right now.

"Missy! Can I just say though, fucking hell it's scary landing here" She laughed.

"Oh just wait till you're taking off" I giggled, "But let's hope not to be fair" I frowned knowing she would have to leave at the end of summer.

"Well let's make the most of the time we have together then" She beamed.

I hugged her again before we started to walk out of the airport. I approached my cousin, Akis' car and smiled at him. He got out of the car and opened the trunk. He quickly took Louisa's bags and placed them in while I started the introductions.

"Lou, this is my cousin Akis, and Akis this is my best friend Louisa" I introduced them to each other.

"Welcome to Corfu Louisa I think you will really like it here" He smiled.

"Thank you, from what Missy has told me I'll love it" She grinned in adoration.

Something about this interaction told me these two would get on very well, and I smirked at the thought as I got into the front of the car with Louisa getting in the back.

"What's funny?" Akis asked.

"Oh nothing" I giggled. As I laughed Louisa's head shot up, her giving me a questioning look, which I just shrugged my shoulders at.

We ended up back at my house just outside of Roda. I lived with my uncle, aunty, 2 cousins and my yia yia (grandmother).

"We're back!" I called out as Akis went to his room. Due to me speaking in greek, Ria had zero idea of what I was saying, so just stared around awkwardly.

"Ah you must be Louisa! I've heard so much about you" Aunty Jenni rushed in to greet us.

"Hello mrs spirepsos" she smiled.

"Oh just call me Jenni!" Aunty Jenni beamed.

We walked through the hallway into the kitchen to grab a few snack. As we walk in we are greeted by Tomas and my dog Rex.

"Kalimera (goodmorning)" Tom speaks.

"Oh I know this one! Goodmorning to you too" Louisa responds.

"Reccy" I cooed, as Rex bounded over to me, nuzzling his face in my side. I gave his head a quick pat and walked over to the cupboard to find some tomatokeftedes.

Rex wandered over to Lou, sniffing the air around there then jumping up to her balancing a paw on each of her shoulders. He was a big dog, a belgian shepherd. She stroked his soft fur smiling.

Finding there was no tomatokeftedes left, I looked at Tomas who was munching on something while watching Louisa and Rex.

"Tom quit staring at my bestie and tell me who ate the last tomatokeftedes" I snapped.

He looked at me, then his stomach and laughed. I swatted his arm and grabbed the last 2 packs of his favourite crisps giving him a smirk and walked out of the kitchen with Louisa.

At the bottom of the stairs, we were greeted by the site of my grandmother.

"Alicienthos Spirepsos why didn't you tell me you arrived" She spoke walking down the stairs.

"I did yia yia, you just didn't hear" I replied softly, though a bit ticked off she used my full name.

"Oh well. Anyway welcome to Corfu, Louisa." she smiled bringing her in for a hug.

"Thank you ma'am" Lou returned the hug.

"Oh just call me yia yia, Missy speaks of you like your family anyway" She softly spoke. She then walked through to the living room as me and Louisa walked up to my room.

I opened 2 drawers that I cleared out for Louisa, and we packed her stuff into them. After we finished we flopped onto my bed and I gave her a knowing look.

"So my cousins huh? Which one do you like?" I smirked, but quietly knowing Akis was next door and Tomas was in the garden and my window was wide open.

"I- no-" Louisa tried to speak before I cut her off.

"Ahh I see, your more into threesomes eh?" I giggled.

She screamed and her face turned bright red "EW NO OF COURSE NOT" to which me both started laughing our heads off to the point where I was crying and curled into a ball on my bed.

Akis walked through the door wondering what was happening.

"Im not going to bother asking what the heck has just happened" causing me to die even more. He just chuckled and walked out.

Once we had calmed down we had decided to go outside with my family. I sat on the chair next to my aunty, while Louisa sat the other side of me.

Tomas was playing with Rex, but he wouldn't give the chewy rope toy back to Tom so he could throw it for him. My aunty was just laughing at them.

"Tom let me try, leave it to the experts" I smirked cockily.

"Alright then I'd like to see you try" He sat in my spot once I got up. Lou looked at Tomas then back towards me and Rex.

"Reccy" I called softly, he bounded over but as I tried to grab it he ran.

"Ha see!" Tom spoke. I rolled my eyes and continued trying.

"Hey, Reccy" I knelt down and he wandered over, letting me take the rope. "And that, my friends, is how its done" I smirked cockily. Aunty Jenni laughed as Tomas looked at me defeatedly. I laughed at his face then continued playing with Rex, Lou and Tomas joining in too. We spent the rest of the morning out here enjoying the summer sun.
