As the sun brightens for a new day on Xena. General Vince sent a group of soldiers to find Phil and Winston somewhere in the forest. It was suicidal for any human to leave the base of you are targeted as an enemy or dangerous unknown animals around.

The group was mostly children and it was their first mission outside of the base and they were led by a couple of adult soldiers that were assigned to train them to be tough soldiers and how to shoot enemies.

"Ok listen up! Our mission is to bring two soldiers that caused treason and needed to be back dead or alive. There are four of you kids that need to know how dangerous the outside is. Foxes that will stop at nothing till they have your head on a spear. They are our enemy, they aren't a nice race that will stop at nothing till they kill us all!" Sargent Gerald shouted as he explained.

"Now I want you four to partner up and go scout around the forest till nightfall. Understand?" He strictly asked.

The child soldiers saluted him but hesitated to start moving alone in the forest while Sergeant Gerald and Corporal Hall started to set up camp.

"Are you sure it's a good idea to leave them alone to scout the forest? There are kids after all." Hall asked.

"The new recruits have to learn the dangers of this world head on. It builds their confidence spirit inside them Corporal. And besides they have to get rid of the hesitation and fear they have inside them to fight these disgusting Fox tribes." Gerald explains.

"But that was lying." She spoke.

"So what? The tribe is the enemy, and they need to learn that we need the planet more than they do since Earth is dying and Mars is starting to overpopulate as well. For the sake of humanity we need to toughen the next generation with lies. Now help me set this tent." Gerald explains as he starts to set up the tent.

Meanwhile, a few Foxes keep watch from the trees and see one of two human children scouting in the area. They signaled and quietly climbed down as they tried to get close to capture them.

"Do you think we will ever come home to Earth?" The human child asked.

"No Craig. If you are drafted in the military, you signed your death certificate. Because you will be a soldier for the rest of your life, by the situation of our society right now." The human teen explains.

"Why? it's not fair." Craig says.

"Life is cruel. Because I never had a mother and a father that cared for me. They were gamblers and then they got murdered. And I got drafted because teens don't go to orphanages. So yeah, it's fucking unfair. I never had a chance to be who I wanted to be in the future."

"Sorry Marcus. But I never knew my parents since I was abandoned and no one wanted to adopt me during the month grace period and then I came here. I'm only 7 and can barely hold a heavy rifle and I don't want to shoot anything anymore." Craig says as he drops his assault rifle into the mud."

"Craig, pick that up. You know we still have to defend ourselves." Marcus says.

"I never believe those lies about those fox beasts anyway. Besides, I'm not going back to the campsite because I quit being a soldier." Craig says as he throws his helmet into the plants.

"Craig, are you stupid or something? That's desertion. They will shoot you at sunrise for ditching." Marcus warns.

"I don't care. I'm not being a warmonger like you. I want a free life! I want a mom and dad to love! I don't want to fight anymore!" Craig says as he tore off his uniform and his tactical gear and ran off unarmed deeper in the forest with only a shirt, pants and his boots on.

"Craig!" Marcus shouted as he went after him.

Marcus tried to find him around but noticed that it was very hard to see anything since it was starting to get dark.

"Craig?! Where are you?!" He shouted when he tried to look around.

"Marcus!" Craig shouted from a distance.

"Craig! Where are you?!" He shouted.

"Help! They are after me! Marcus!" Craig shouted.

"Craig! Craig!" Marcus shouted as he panics and tries to save his best friend.

Just then, it was silent. He couldn't hear him anymore and Marcus hoped that Craig was still alive and didn't give up as he turned on his flashlight and tried to see through the darkness as the day was about to become night. He was a little scared when it was hard to see around in the dark with only a flashlight to loom the light through.

He jumped in fear as a few harmless animals went past him that almost made him fire his gun since he had a quick finger trigger. He went further down and stops when he saw a few foxes scouting the area and seeing Craig unconscious while he was being carried to a dragon.

Marcus didn't hesitate as he was about to fire his rifle to save his pal, but he was hit with some blow dart.

"Ahh!" He shouted as he felt the needle going in his back and felt a little tired and tipsy by the sedation.

"Take him back to the village." A Fox commanded the others.

Meanwhile, Gerald and Hall waited for the child soldiers to come back but didn't return.

"They should be back by now." Hall says with concern.

"They Will. Just need more time." Gerald says as he sits down.

But he was dead wrong that the four soldiers were taken to the village to be saved from the corruption of the military.
