Fitz POV
"Come on son." Alden commanded Fitz as they walked out of Everglen's mansion.
"Today will be tricky but necessary... and before you say that Sophie doesn't need you right now, you are the only person strong enough to enter into her mind. She trusts you."
"I know, but the guilt still haunts me." Fitz admitted.
Alden turned around and put his hand on Fitz shoulder. "Then don't focus on it. Put away the guilt and work on trying to fix Sophie instead okay?" His eyes peered into Fitz soul.
Fitz swallowed loud. "Yeah, I'll work on that."
The father son pair leaped to Havenfield, hand in hand. They arrived in the middle of the field. Alden could see Grady in the living room. The pair walked up to the door and knocked.
"I've got it." Grady said on the other side of the door across the room.
The door opened quickly "Come in." Grady said.
They walked up the stairs. Fitz trailing behind. He dragged his feet and took each step slowly. The group got to the top of the stairs and paused.
"Before we go in..." Grady took a deep breath. "The room is going to be really warm because of Sophie's heart problems. " "And Fitz" Grady looked at him. "When you enter, try not to make a sound. Tiergan will assist you, and I'm sure Alden will be happy too as well." Grady finished.
Alden nodded. "You'll be okay, just try to figure out what's going on okay?"
"I'll do my best." Fitz promised. "But what if I can't fix her? What if I make things worse?"
"Then no one will blame you for trying your hardest to be there for Sophie." Alden concluded.
"Edaline and I would never blame you." Grady promised. "You meant so much to her, how could we hate someone she loved."
"Are you ready?" Grady asked.
A moment of science.
Fitz loved Sophie so much. He was the one who found her, and brought her into a world where she was in constant danger. Now that the Neverseen were gone, some of that guilt had been lifted, and then immediately replaced when Sophie got sick. He would do anything to save her. Not just for her, but for his own sake. If Sophie didn't get better, Fitz would never forgive himself.
He would go down a mental spiral and eventually shatter. Fitz hoped Sophie still trusted him, because he was going in to find her.
"Ready."

I feel bad, but it's all for Sophie's happy ending. I'm on a writing streak right now, so I'm working on wrapping the story up.-ChinWithATopHat
