Aang sighted, slipping into the soft, queen sized bed within the Firelord's chambers, yawning. He had moved into the Palace about a month ago, Zuko hadn't come into the room yet, he was sitting in his office, doing paperwork to avoid his lover. Aang couldn't understand why Zuko wasn't coming to bed the same time as he use too, after a week or so he stopped sleeping in the bed. He started sleeping in his office. Aang worried he had done something but Zuko insisted he hadn't and he just had a lot of paperwork he needed to finish up on and there was just more and more coming in each day.
Aang laid down, staring at the ceiling, hoping Zuko would come through the door any moment now but of course he didn't. He shook his head as he huffed, turning onto his side and pulling the silk blanket over him over his mouth and curling up, closing his eyes and drifting off into sleep.
Zuko was still in his office, tired and worn out from the busy day he just had, he yawned, resting his head on his fist as he continued to do the mountain of paperwork in front of him, his eyes closing as he almost fell asleep multiple time's and then jolting back awake, soon failing to keep himself awake, finally drifting away into slumber.
The catacombs glistens with the crystals which where the only form of light above and around them excluding the Avatar as he rises up from crystal rock tent he had made to allow himself to enter the Avatar state unharmed. His eyes and tattoo's glowing brightly, a stern and angry look upon his face.
Zuko stared in both fear and awe, the pure white glow mesmerizing him, then it happened.
The lighting darted for him, Zuko running towards him, trying to get there in time, tears welling up in his eyes as he screams, the lighting striking the person he would eventually call his lover, his soul mate. The victorious smirk plastered upon his face, Zuko helpless to get to him, Aang falling from the sky as the lift left his body. He was dead he had died in that moment, Zuko dropped to his knees but the moment Aang hit the ground everything went black.
He stood up looking around for that familiar being which had been haunting his dreams since his fiancé had moved in. he turned around and there he was, right in front of him, staring lifelessly into his eyes. He moved back, he's seen this figure before. Back when he was sixteen when the whole incident happened, he hadn't been able to sleep since the moment he was shot, he would stay awake, thinking of the young Avatar for hours, still dusk had turned to dawn.
He backed away, the figure following while keeping eye contact.
He didn't blink once.
The same lifeless stare on his face as his arm reached out for Zuko.
His clothes ripped and burned.
Covered in dirt and even blood, tears in his eyes.
Zuko shook his head as he sped up his pace, his breathing becoming irregular and shaky.
"Why won't you leave me alone?! I've fixed everything, haven't I?!" he yelled, still backing away into the black, endless void.
He did not respond. Just kept walking.
"Tell me! Why won't you leave me alone?!"
". . ."
"Please! Tell me! Tell me please!" he screamed, tears streaming down his cheeks as he stopped walking.
The figure stopped as well. Zuko dropping to the ground, his hands behind his head, his forehead on the cold ground. The figure looking down at him, dropping to his knee's himself.
