"Look, I need to find out where that handler went! I want to talk to him as soon as possible," Rosalie spoke as she hurried down the stairs.
"Hey, wait!" Heidi shouted after her.
The two were descending in the dungeon, and Rosalie was making a b-line for somewhere past their house dormitory. Rosalie continued to run through the dungeon halls and soon made a hard stop in front of a wooden door. She'd go to knock but stopped herself in time. Calm. Rosalie had to be calm if she were going to ask for her professor's help. A simple knock came after she steadied herself, along with a glance back to see Heidi nowhere around.
She must've seen I was going to Professor Snape.
"Come in," came Snape from the other side.
Rosalie went to open the door and gave a soft greeting. "Sorry to bother you, professor, but I was wondering if you could answer some questions."
Snape didn't look up from the papers he currently was writing on as he responded. "As long as it's not answers to any homework, I am more than willing to answer. To the best of my abilities, of course. Now, shut the door. I don't want a draft, Miss Monday."
"Yes, sir." Rosalie shut up and then realized how much warmer the professor's office was. She'd glance around for a moment before asking the main question she had. "Do you know who the dragon handler was?"
Snape glanced up, seeing the curiosity and eagerness in Rosalie's eyes. "The man who brought the dragons for the first task is Charlie Weasley. Now, why do you want to know that?"
"Well..." Rosalie wrung her hands and looked at Snape. "I found the dragons to be quite amazing, and I'd want to contact him if possible, for how to become a dragon handler myself."
She'd see as Snape's eyebrows rose and what she saw as admiration at her ambition with his eyes lighting up. Almost immediately he grabbed a fresh piece of parchment.
"Now, what I recommend for now is to focus on these subjects I'm writing down here. These are best for those going into Dragonology. I don't know of many authors, but I'm sure your Magical Creatures professor will be able to help you there." Snape then offered the small piece of parchment to Rosalie, which she graciously took. "I will also note that I cannot contact Weasley for you. You can either reach out to his family here in the school or I can try and see if the headmaster could write him a letter saying a student is interested in learning. The most important thing for you right now is to study, study, STUDY."
While Snape obviously didn't intend the slightly frightening tone, it made Rosalie freeze for a moment. It took a moment before she replied back and also looked over the list. "Thank you, professor. So, to continue getting the highest grades in these courses and reading what dragonology books I can?"
"Yes," Snape nodded his head. "I hope you stick with it too. I haven't seen many Slytherins this ambitious in a while, especially for such an important career field. I can help you with potions, herbs, and other ailment teachings for them if you wish. Those personal lessons won't come until you're at the N.E.W.T. level, though. That's when I can individualize studies more for everyone."
"Thank you, thank you again."
"Now, is there anything else I can help you with?" Snape asked as he began to go back to grading.
"No, thank you. You've helped me a lot." Rosalie went to open the door to leave.
"Monday," Snape called and halted her in her place. "Fifteen points for your drive to learn more. It's good to have."
Rosalie gave a sheepish smile and spoke out another "thank you" before exiting and closing the door. She was fast to hurry back to the dorms with a smile on her face. Once inside, she'd join others who were discussing the first task. Currently, they were all discussing their favorite moments.
"That was clever with the sleeping spell, don't you think?" Pansy asked the large group.
"It was a good move, but sadly didn't last long," an older Slytherin spoke.
Rosalie found a spot to sit, seeing Silver out and about with other cats her fellow dormmates owned. She'd call for him and he'd come over and rest in her lap, content with Rosalie's hand on his body.
"Monday, you just got here," Jenna began, "what did you like that a champion did?"
All eyes in the group shifted over as they awaited Rosalie's response. Even those whom she usually didn't get along with looked with interest, which she assumed was if she'd be against Harry Potter or not. It was another moment as Rosalie thought about her answer and stroked Silver a few times.
"I think... The charm Cedric Diggory used was quite interesting. I liked how he tried to make prey for the dragon so he could sneak behind."
"That was cool!" a first-year commented. "How did he even do that? I want to!"
Jenna smiled and looked at the boy. "It's a seventh-year spell. I remember seeing him ask McGonagall for help the day before on which spell to use. She taught us that transmutation charm in September. I'm surprised Cedric learned it so well and fast compared to the rest of us."
"It was more clever than Potter's, that's for sure," Malfoy added. "I mean, really, who would just do 'accio firebolt' and fly around? All the damage too. So irresponsible!"
Many were silent about his add-on, but even Rosalie internally agreed. Harry did cause a lot of damage to the playing grounds and even damaged one of the towers. To actually agree with Malfoy wasn't common either, but logical reasonings did sometimes put the two on the same page.
The group continued on, changing from favorite methods by the champions to which dragon was their favorite. The change made Rosalie pull out the small bit of parchment and read the classes Snape had emphasized on:
Charms
Potions
Care of Magical Creatures
Defense Against the Dark Arts
"I have to excel in these four..." Rosalie muttered quietly to herself as she started to memorize the classes by heart.
This spark was something new, and she felt she finally found what would be her passion in the wizarding world.
