Now Sydney is constantly on my mind. I keep imagining myself lying on the gorgeous sand, with a toned, tanned body, money in my purse and most importantly, happiness. That is all I want.

It's a 10:32am on a Saturday morning. Great. The job hunt is in full swing. My notes are crammed with shit jobs, with shit pay and in shit parts of town. At least it's a job right? Money=Sydney and Sydney=Happiness. The only job on the list that had decent pay was a mini superstore job, working 9 till 5 with £255 pounds a week, it was in a small, rundown part of town. I decided to check it out.
I have to get up from my warm, cosy bed. Really?

I arrived at the store 'Joe's Mini-Mart' and walked into the red, paint cracked door and a small bell rung above my head, noting the tall blonde boy standing behind the counter, that somebody had just walked in. He looked my way and smiled, grabbing his lip ring between his teeth. He seemed pretty punk and was very hot.

I stared at him for a few moments and then walked over to him. He smiled and said "Hi, how can I help" he enlightened me, he made me get a sensation of happiness which cheered me up. I hadn't felt this in a while, it felt unusual.

He had a soft Australian accent, was quite tanned and had a perfect gelled blonde quiff. I smiled back and replied awkwardly "Hello, I just came today to request about the shop assistant job I found on the internet earlier."
"Oh yeah, you'll be needing Joe.. JOE." he called and waited a mere 2 seconds before calling Joe's name again even louder. "JOEEE." He smiled and whispered to me "Joe's the manager, kinda doesn't listen to me. Stay right there and I'll go get him." and with that the tall blonde boy sped away into what seemed like a small office located in the left of the store.

The green door stating 'Manager' was shut and the blinds enclosing the windows were awkwardly shifted by a finger. A pair of small brown eyes peered through the shutters and looked my way. I waited another 2 minutes and finally out walked the blonde boy, and behind him was a small fat man, with a bald head and a fair amount of wrinkles on his scrunched up face.

He was wearing a off-white shirt which was badly ironed, keeping his trousers up was a large belt which may as well have been up to his chest and a pair of old, scuffed formal shoes. He came my way and said "Good morning my darling, how may I assist you?" he clapped his chubby hands together and gave me a friendly smile.

I explained that I had seen a job offer on the Internet earlier this morning and I was just enquiring about it.

He invited me into his office. It that was covered in random papers and bills which seemed to have been there since about 1989. It consisted of a old 90's computer and keyboard, a pine desk that was slightly chipped and some dirty leather seats.

I took a seat and Joe asked me questions about the job. He asked why I wanted the job and that if I got the job would I work hard at it. I told him about myself and about my dreams of moving to Sydney. I exaggerated a little saying I'm a hard worker and would do anything to keep the customers happy. Pffft.

He paused for a few minutes and said "Welcome to Joe's. You start tomorrow 9am. Don't be late, wear this-" in my hands he slapped down a red polo with a 'Joe's' logo on it.
"-and wear any trousers and shoes you like. Just look neat. Good luck, see you tomorrow." he smiled at and I sort of threw myself into his arms awarding him with a hug I think he was startled with. He sorta pushed me off then pushed me out of his office. I didn't care. I was happy and I was going to fulfil my dream.

Joe's slam of the door made the blonde boy look my way. He smiled and said "You got the job?"
I replied "YES!" with a squeal.
He laughed and said "Hey what's your name?"
I replied "Lila, you?"
"I'm Luke, and Lila I can tell we are going to be really good friends." He remarked with a smirk.
I walked out of the door and shouted behind me "See you tomorrow Luke".

I was actually happy. For once.
