the day they met

It had been a whole summer since the incident, and now Liam was on his way to school for his first day of junior year.

His best friend, Mason, had been at Beacon Hills High since freshman year, but they'd been bestfriends since the 1st grade.

Mason had stuck up for him when a boy had stolen his toys, and ever since the two had been inseparable.

Where one was, the other wasn't far off.

It made sense that Liam was the first person Mason had come out to. Mason had been terrified to tell his parents, but Liam had helped him come up with a plan and told him that it would all be okay, which is why it only made sense that Mason was the one to drive him to school on his first day.

Since freshman year, a lot had changed for the boys.

Liam had come out as bi.

He had only come out to Mason and his parents, but it was still something.

Mason had gotten a boyfriend, Corey, whom he'd been dating for nearly a year now.

They were happy in their lives.

Even if Liam was a bit nervous to start his first day at a new school, he knew it would be okay.

Liam was lucky enough to have the same lunch as Mason and Corey.

Otherwise, he would've spent it alone.

"How's your first day been so far?" his best friend asked.

"It's been alright, except for this one guy who keeps calling me sweetheart. I think his name is Theo," Liam replied.

Corey and Mason shared a look between them, leaving Liam confused.

"What?" he asked.

"Is his last name Raeken?" Corey asked him.

"I think so, why?"

"He's a total player. Trust me, Liam, you don't want to be his friend, let alone anything else," Mason explained.

"I don't understand," he said.

"He's bad new Liam," Corey spoke up.

"Just trust us, he's the Brett of this school," Mason warned him.

"Okay," Liam said, agreeing to stay away.

"That goes for Tracy and Josh too," his best friend added.

"Okay," Liam repeated.

He decided not to ask any further questions and, judging by Corey's face, this entire situation made him uncomfortable.

"Anyways... what have you got next?" Corey asked, trying to change the subject.

Liam pulled out his phone, looking at his timetable.

"Uh... biology with Ms. Fitch," he answered, letting Corey change the subject.

"Good luck, man," Mason said.

Liam hated biology, it was just so confusing; he definitely prefered history.

The bell rang, cutting their conversation short.

"We'll see you after school, yeah?" Mason asked.

"Well, I do need a ride home," he teased.

He picked his bag up up from off the ground and headed to his last lesson of the day, although he may have gotten a bit lost.

It wasn't his fault that the school was massive.

When he was at Devenford, he'd had since middle school to find his way around.

Ms. Fitch was nice enough not to give him a detention on his first day, but because he was late, the only available seat was next to Theo.
