You knew there was something up with him from the second he entered your flat. His eyes barely looking at you as he mumbled a quite hello, eyebrows furrowed together to which you know from your 6 years of friendship meant he was nervous.

"What have you done now?" You sighed, watching as he threw himself dramatically on the sofa hands covering his face like he complementing all of his life choices. "Had an argument with Ben again?" You questioned, to which he shook his head "a dirty tackle in training..?" Again your suspicions were met with a shake of a head. "Got a girl pregnant?"

His head shot up with disgust as he glared at you "what the fuck (y/n)? No! Of course not!"

"Then why the sour face..?" You laugh, not understanding your best friend's dramatics "you haven't had an argument, your not in trouble with the team... not got a girl pregnant" you had to sniffle a laugh as he side eyed you once more "what possibly could be worst than that, mase?"

His head fell back once more as his hands squished his face, mumbling a response in his palms that you could barely make out. "What was that again, captain?" His lips pulled slightly as you spoke the nickname you had used since his first captaincy in youth games, but that was quickly changed to a frown as he realised he still had to tell you.

"I may have told my mum I was bringing you along to the wedding" he breathed out all in one, voice shaking as he looked over to you where you were stood even more confused than before.

"Okay..." you spoke, voiced laced with confusion "what's so wrong with that?"

"She asked if I had a plus one..."

"And you said I was going with you as your plus one..." you said calmly, trying your best to piece together why he was shook up over something that you knew about. Your eyes pierced his as you watched him wince, realisation suddenly hitting you "you said we were going as friends right?"

His head dipped down as he stared at his feet, to scared to look up at the horror on your face. "Mason tony mount, please tell me you didn't?" You sighed, already knowing what's next.

"I told her you were my date.." he groaned, hating saying the words out loud to you, just as much as he hated seeing your face scrunch up in disgust. "Mason..." you groaned back, throwing yourself down on the couch next to him, your hands now covering your own face.

"I'm sorry!"

"let me get this straight" letting go of your face, you looked at his dark hazel eyes trying to piece together why he told the worst lie he could ever have done "you told your mom you had a date to bring to the wedding when she asked, even when you could've just said that you're just bringing a friend—me!—along with you."

Nodding, he looked at you sheepishly "...i didn't want my aunties to bully me again because i was single. they were ruthless at the last wedding."

"You could have told the truth tho mase!" You scr each, throwing your hands up "you could of just said you don't have a date but was bringing me as your friend!"

"They would have still rinsed us tho!" He argued back, trying his best to convince you even when he hasn't convinced himself that this was not as bad as it seemed "They would have seen you next to me and questioned us all night! Atleast this way we don't get questioned... I've done us a favour really"
