I sprint down the field towards the running back, and the wind brushes past my helmet like a moving car. The sound of the stadium becomes inaudible, and I accelerate with every step. Another one of my teammates miss the tackle, but I come in like a seeking missile.
He sees me last second with no time to make a move.
Clack!!!
Stacy's POV...
"Ouuuuuuu!!!!!"
The people in the bleachers, along with us react to the hit."Fillett his asss!!! Oh yeah!!!" Candace shouts leaning over the rail, leaving Tiffany and I to hold her from falling off.
"Woooooooh!!!! Let's go baby boy!!!" Miss D jumps up and down from the rush of adrenaline.
Xavier's POV...
I ram my shoulder into his body, and he's knocked off his feet. Once he hits the ground, he rises to his knees in a fetal position. He managed to get first down before I could tackle him, but I'm pleased with the hit I made.
"Boom!!! Perfect Timing!!!" Markus shouts, banging his helmet against mine.
The referee blows his whistle, commencing the end of the play. As the defense and I got back into formation, I go back to strong safety until further notice. Playing safety against the run game can get a little tricky because I'm not in the box playing linebacker. However, this is when I get to shine in coverage and can make big hits like those—along with Markus in the deep zone.
However, I do wanna go back to linebacker but I trust what the coaches were calling.
Once the offense got into their formation, Coach Jones started to shout our next formation. "Lizz Black, Go!!! Lizz Black, Go!!!"
Translation, he wants us to get into cover man and the strong side was to our left. Hence the word Lizz, which stands for our left side of the field is the strong side. Fremont went back to their spread offensive formation, and we secondary defenders were to come down and play man coverage. I was lined up on the Tight-end, and the rest were on wide receivers—Markus included.
Smog left our helmets from the chilling temperature. The wind was brisk against our skin, but the blood boiling within us kept us warm.
"Set Hut!!!" Fremont commences the play.
The Tight-End and I both get physical off the ball. He fights to run his route, but I stick to him like glue past five yards. Following my instincts, I remained inside his route. Looking back to the QB, he gets close to being sacked but throws the ball to his target's last second.
Unfortunately, our corner ended up getting broken in the route, and the ball was caught. I break away from the tight end and start chasing down the ball carrier.
Before I could get close to him, Markus managed to get him first and lays him out completely.Boom!!!
Markus threw his body into the wideout, and the hit sounded off like a sledgehammer against plastic.
"Ouuuuuu!"
The stadium responds to the hit, but our sideline jumped with hysteria.Stacy's POV...
