𝕿𝖍𝖊 classmates who said they would leave put together their belongings to continue their journey. A silence traveled between the group that stayed and the ones that wished to leave. Knowing well they were leaving the sick behind after rejecting the first departure their guilt could only eat at them.

After all, how much better are they than the people that left first?
They could not meet the eyes of the three abled-bodied left behind. Especially that of their class president.

"I guess it's only us"

Maria stood at the far right with her hands on her shoulder. A slight frown on her face.

"What's wrong, you've been frowning since they left. Do you regret staying behind?"

A standing josh with folded arms leaned against the tree.

"No..that's..not it. Something weird happened"

"Go on"

"You remember the night we found the skull?"

"Two days ago?"

"Yes. When the group was arguing I went out into the place the crew said they found the bones. When I reached the area I searched around. I don't know why but I felt like I had to. That was when I found it..."

"What..?"

Maria reached into the pockets of her khaki skirt taking out a necklace.

"A blue amulet?"

"Not just any blue amulet. These were..."

Tears began closing her eyes.

"They were Mrs.Angs"

"How would you-"

Her glare had his mouth shut. The rumors were rampant but never did Josh thought he'd be the ear to confirm the truth.

"I gifted them"

"Since you're sure it's hers we can't just assume the bones also belong to her". 

"How would you know?"

"Because there's no way those bones are Mrs. Angs. We've barely been on this mountain for months. That skeleton looks decomposed for at least a year. We couldn't even find the rest of the body"

"But it could"

"It couldn't"

"How do you explain this!?"
Her hands emphasized the amulet.

"She might be close or was. The former is good for us and you. We could finally bury her"

A loud thud echoed through the forest. Josh touched the side of his burning cheeks.

"You're such a fucking asshole."
She didn't hold back on the slap.

"Not as much as she was a pedophile"
Neither did he with his mouth.

Angered, she pushed at him barely moving him n inch.

"I was willing"

"Sounds like a victim"

"The woman is fucking dead you prick have some respect."
Her voice had a shake in them. New tears smeared her rosy cheeks.

"Which is why I suggest we search for her before she marinates."

Maria nodded reluctantly. Her expression still depressing but a slight weight lifted from her chest.

"Should we tell the others?"
