A/N: Sorry for such a long time between chapters! I went home and time ceased to exist, but I'm back now! Happy reading!

When you pictured your first date with Connor, you pictured some of the usual activities: going to the movies, going on a walk in the park, having dinner at a nice restaurant... Well, maybe not dinner, considering the fact he doesn't eat.

But, you never thought you'd be maneuvering your way through the various checkpoints throughout Detroit to get to Hart Plaza. Once you got closer to the plaza, you parked your car on a side street. You wagered that it'd be less risky to navigate through the city on foot.

You clutched your coat closer to your body as the soles of your boots crunched through the snow. You just had to get through one more checkpoint, survive the night, and then you and Connor could be together. Simple enough, right?

Bright spotlights illuminated the checkpoint and you steeled yourself as you approached the armored soldiers that blocked your path to your beloved.

"ID, please," one of the soldiers mumbled as you came to a stop in front of one of them.

You yanked your badge off your neck and handed it over to the soldier. You were thankful that you decided to leave your badge in your car the night before, considering your wallet was abandoned somewhere in your apartment.

The soldier looked over your badge, comparing the grainy picture to your appearance. You pressed your lips together and avoided his gaze. You were glad that you were able to clean yourself up. You wouldn't get very far covered in blood.

"DPD, huh?" The soldier questioned before handing your badge back. He motioned to the butterfly stitches on your temple, "You been dealing with the android problem?"

"You could say that," you grumbled as you returned your badge around your neck.

The soldier let out a scoff as he stepped to the side, "Get where you're going, there's a curfew."

You nodded and hurried through the checkpoint. Goddamn, assholes.

After a short walk, you reached the outskirts of Hart Plaza. Reporters lined the barricade on the outside of the plaza and a helicopter hovered overhead, both watching as history was being made. The androids had created a makeshift barricade that they waited behind. You hoped Connor would arrive in time.

You made your way to the military side of the plaza, pushing through both officers and soldiers to get to the front. Your eyes scanned frantically, looking for a familiar face.

You crinkled your nose as you spotted Perkins on the front lines. A bruise had started to form across his nose from where Hank punched him earlier. You grinned.

Your attention was caught by someone calling your name a few feet away. You began to push forward to identify who was calling you.

Your feet were moving quicker than your mind could process, and you crashed into someone. They grasped onto your arms and you attempted to yank yourself out of their grasp before you realized whose arms you were in.

"Gavin?"

Gavin gave you a once over as his grip tightened on your forearms, "Sweetheart, what the fuck are you doing here? What happened to you?"

"What am I doing here?" You yanked your arms out of his grasp, "What are you doing here? You're a detective, not a soldier."

Gavin rolled his eyes, "These androids need to be stopped— I volunteered."
