"Are you going to tell me what happened?" Draco's car was now parked in front of my house.

I was expecting it. I knew he wasn't going to leave it alone.

"Are you sure you haven't met him before?" Draco questioned.

"I've never met him before Draco." I rested my chin against the glass.

"Did he say anything to you?" He went on.

"You were there the entire time." I reminded him of it.

"That's not a response, Angeline." I could tell he wanted to roll his eyes at me because he titled his head.

"He never said anything to me." Draco scratched his chin and returned to staring at me as if I were lying.

"So, what was the problem? Also, don't say nothing."

"All he did was remind me of someone." After all, it is the truth.

Griffin did not do anything to me.

"Of who?" Draco put forward a question to which I would never respond.

"Just a person. Someone I dislike." I muttered as I reached for the doorknob, eager to get out of this conversation.

Draco looked at me tiredly before inspecting the empty driveway.

"Do you want me to accompany you? While you wait for your father?"

"I'm going to be fine." I sighed out, but for some reason, my tone of voice softened in response to his concerned expression.

"Seriously. I promise it." He looked as if he didn't want to leave me here and drive away.

"Okay. But if you need help, please call me."

"Yes, Draco. If I feel the urge to jump off my roof, I'll call you." As I climbed out of his car, I muttered to him.

When I turned around, I saw him flinch at what I had said.

"Sorry."

"It's alright. Angeline, I'll see you tomorrow." Before I shut the door, he smiled at me.

When I got to my door, I realised I hadn't heard Draco's car leave, and when I turned back to look, he was still staring at me. Before entering my house, I gave him a quick wave.

The lights were all turned off, and there was no sign of recent habitation. I often wondered why my father felt the need to buy such a large house, knowing that only the two of us would live there. Perhaps he hoped for a better future for both of us. Maybe he imagined me meeting someone, or having brothers and sisters.

Maybe. It didn't seem to work out for either of us.

Tonight, I couldn't help but feel a little lighter. My heart felt lighter in my chest. To a lesser extent, the ice in my veins felt melted. This time I wasn't lying when I said I felt better.

I tossed my purse on my bed before changing into shorts and an oversized hoodie. When I returned to my bed, the small white envelope that had spilt onto my duvet with the rest of the contents of my purse drew my attention. I'd forgotten about it since I found it in my locker at school today. Probably because of Draco's company.

My brain was at odds once more, with half of me wanting to throw it away without reading it and the other half too curious to do so. As I sat on my bed, it appeared that my curious side had won.

I carefully opened the envelope. Inside was a handwritten note on lined paper that appeared to have been ripped from a notebook. As I read the first few lines, I felt bitter rise into my throat and my hand cover my mouth in shock.
