Priscilla parked her car, sitting the driveway of her house.
As she stared at the front door, she noticed an unfamiliar truck parked beside her, meaning that her parents had company over.
The girl sighed, running her hands over her face before resting her forehead on the steering wheel. She hated this part of the day.
She hated having to explain her same high school routine to her parents, who just blankly listened for the sake of saying that they asked about their daughter.
Priscilla took another deep breath, chugging the bottle of water next to her, and grabbing a mint from underneath the car radio. She crushed the plastic, throwing it in the backseat of her car before getting out.
As she entered the house, Priscilla was almost shocked at the fact that her parents were waiting to question her in the den.
The girl could hear conversation coming from the kitchen so she decided, if they were distracted enough, it would be the perfect opportunity to sneak up to her room. But, as she quietly walked up the stairs, her mom called after her.
"Priscilla!"
The blonde groaned, punching the air as she came back down, sighing before stepping into the kitchen. There sat her parents, but what captured her attention more was who was sitting across from them.
Nate's Dad, Cal, sat smug at the dining room table, a cup of coffee in his hands.
"Hi," Priscilla sighly greeted.
She knew exactly who the man was. She recognized him from school events and his face being plastered on every single constructor poster in the town. She especially recognized him from that night at the restaurant when he came with his family. Back then, the Jacobs family was the talk of the town after what Maddy pulled the night of the carnival, resulting in Nate being arrested for the assault. It almost made her chuckle the fact that they were being publicly scrutinized because of their son, yet again.
"Are we getting work done on the house or something?" Priscilla questioned, going to the refrigerator for something to drink but by the seriousness on her father's face, Priscilla decided to shut the door.
She made her way over to the table, pulling out a seat. The only one available being next to Mr. Jacobs.
"Cal here, came to see us out of concern for his son," her father explained, holding out his hand to gesture to the man, "you got to school with him." "
"Yeah, but we barely talk like that."
"That's probably true," Cal nodded his head, taking a quick glance down the teenage girl's top before focusing on her eyes, "But, I'm here in regards to a party that happened on New Year's Eve."
"Fuck," Priscilla thought to herself.
Her mind began to run wild, thinking about all of the possible things he could ask from her. The girl never actually thought someone would look into what happened that night, but she figured when Nate was admitted to the hospital, obviously his parents were going to ask questions.
"The party on Seventh?" Priscilla began to play dumb, looking towards her parents for help. But all she got were blank stares. "I kind of got too messed up that night and slept at my friend Rue's."
Priscilla could notice the subtle disappointed shake of the head from her mother.
"I'm just going to cut the chase here, may I?" Cal glanced at the parents, before moving onto the teenage girl, "my son was injured at this party, seriously injured, and it seems like nobody knows nothing about it. And quite frankly, I don't believe them. I know somebody beat up my kid."
"Well, what do you want me to say?" Priscilla became defensive.
"You could keep telling the same story that everyone else seems to be going with, that they didn't see anything, they weren't there. But, my wife and I will gladly get the chief of police involved. He's a very close family friend of ours. Maybe he could have this conversation with everyone. You know, get everyone's cellphones, text histories. Find out exactly what happened."
Priscilla couldn't believe how bold he was. How blunt. How her parents could just sit back and let a stranger interrogate their daughter like this. Especially when the stranger himself, wasn't a saint amongst the students.
"Should we do that instead?"
Now, what scared the shit out of Priscilla. Was that last night, she had just talked to Elliot. Text messages between them elaborating on New Year's, how she saw Fezco with Lexi right before what happened to Nate. How she couldn't believe Fez would risk his and Ash's low profile stance to do something so public.
Priscilla knew she couldn't show him that she was terrified. If the cops were involved, that would mean a lot of shit for Priscilla, considering her relationship throughout all of this with Fezco. It would bring up a lot of shit from the past year that her parents could never find out about. The drugs, the raid at Fezco's apartment, what we were doing just before arriving at the party.
God forbid, if a cop just asked her to piss in a cup right at that moment.
Priscilla sighed, tapping her nails on the glass table.
"Yeah, maybe you should."
"Priscilla-" her mother warned, but the girl's father held up a hand.
"No, seriously, Mr. Jacobs. Because, all you'll find out from that night is I got sick before midnight even hit and got a ride back to my friend Rue's, from Jules. You are familiar with Jules right?"
Priscilla could see the man's throat clench shut, as if her hand was physically been wrapped around his neck and she knew she got him. He knew it as well. Cal didn't know how this one girl, this girl from her son's school could possibly know about his involvement with a minor but teenagers talk.
Cal nodded his head, flashing a wounded smile to the girl, followed by her parents, "Okay then, if you weren't there, you weren't there. I'm sorry if I wasted anyone's time."
