And obviously things didn't get any better, now they had two battles going on at the same time, it was moments like that when a teacher isn't so happy to see students trying to improve.
It wasn't even close to the end of the year and the battle had no intention of slowing down, it was all or nothing.
The only reason they weren't afraid of this coming to punchs was the way they talked to each other every time there was a winner and a loser after each test.
Yes, there were times when they would shout and threaten each other, but other times they would just make fun of each other and the other would only respond with an ironic smile and a comeback.
That day there was an exam for a new topic in the class, and the hedgehogs had bet whoever got the lowest grade owed money to the one with the highest grade, a new dynamic that had occurred to them relatively recently.
And by just three points difference, Shadow was the winner of that round.
Sonic looked at him clearly annoyed, denying his own result and knowing that when he left class he would have to pay him.
At the other end of the room, the second rivalry also took place, or rather the one-sided rivalry, because there you had her, Blaze giving her all to overcome Silver, and although he had no intention of fighting, it was just inevitable not to continue to maintain his position with his satisfactory performance.
Maybe Shadow had won the bet with Sonic, but that didn't mean he was the only one with a good grade, Blaze had gotten the same result and she couldn't be happier.
She turned around, still sitting at her desk, to see her "rival" just a few seats behind, she showed him her sheet along with her result with her best face of pride.
Which vanished as soon as the white hedgehog showed HIS blade to her, revealing that he surpassed her by only one point, he shrugged with an intimidated smile.
The kitten's ears fell back as her brow furrowed, she looked straight ahead again as she slammed her blade against her table, angrier with herself than with the boy.
Silver adjusted the neck of his tie with obvious discomfort, he really wasn't doing it on purpose, but he didn't want to start lowering his grades either so as not to fight with her, he felt cornered.
At the end of the class all the students left the room and the green-eyed one had his financial humiliation.
- Here, your money, don't even tell me how much it is, just take it and go - He blurted out irritably, leaving the bills in Shadow's hands.
- Aaaww Sonic... - He kept his prize in his pocket. - It really gets me see you so miserable... - He put a hand to his chest, speaking in a clearly mocking tone. - Are you going to cry later in your fine silk tie for your defeat? -
He looked at him still with his head down, raising one of his ears and smirking. - Oh yes, it's imported silk, thanks for noticing - He stood up proudly holding the beginning of his tie with one hand.
Shadow chuckled. - I just like the idea of... y'know, CHOKING you with it - He made the gesture of adjusting a tie with his hands.
The blue one's eyelids lowered slightly. - I like it too... -
A stifling silence invaded them as they processed what did he just said, both with a slight blush on their cheeks from the obvious thought that crossed their minds.
Sonic put a hand to his mouth and stepped back a bit.
Both left the scene on opposite sides without saying anything at all.
To be continue...
