ElleThe road trip was going really well the three girls were having a great time. They stayed in a cheap motels for the week and there was two days left of Ivy's two weeks off and they we're all going to make the most of it. Ivy heard from nobody for the whole week, she spoke to her dad briefly but he got of the phone pretty quick, she hadn't heard from any of the team but she just thought that was because Elle and Derek were sunning it up in some resort, Spencer was with his mom, Gideon was in his cabin and JJ was taking time to herself but she just had a feeling in her gut telling her something was wrong.
It was late at night when Ivy's phone started ringing, Hotch said he wouldn't ring her unless he had to and in that moment her feeling in her gut grew even more "I'm so sorry I had to call you I know you're having a great time with you're friends Ivy" Hotch never sounded really stressed when he used to ring Ivy from work everyday even if it was a murder case he always spoke in a calm tone but this was completely different.
"Dad what's wrong.. what happened" she asked as he took a minute to answer.
"Elle was shot today in her house she's in hospital now having surgery but the doctors are saying it's not looking good... I knew you'd want to know what was going on" he spoke through the phone.
"What the fuck how did that happen she's supposed to be in some resort somewhere" she spoke as her voice began to rise.
"Something happened on there trip and we were all called into work the day after you left and I didn't want to bother you, you were having a fantastic time with you're friends and I didn't want you to worry about all of this" he said with a hint of guilt in his voice.
"Wait so everyone else on the team went back into work on Tuesday and you just didn't think of telling me... Dad this isn't what I signed up for you're treating me like I'm incapable of doing the job that you do, it was not you're call to make weather I was having a great time or not, nobody else had a choice in the matter so why did I" she spat as she began to pack her bags.
"Ivy I was trying to do what I thought was best for you. I think you're perfectly capable of doing my job that's not the case at all I just want you to be able to experience you're 20's without all of this baggage" he explained but it only made her feel worse.
"Dad no offense but I've always had this baggage with me since I was a kid, my whole life I've been surrounded by you're job and the cases you work on. If you continue to treat me differently to the rest of the team I will leave the internship, I didn't want this to happen I told you before I even applied that if you were going to treat me differently to anyone else I wouldn't apply for it and you agreed that you'd treat me like you're equal not like you're daughter and yes I understand that must be difficult but I need you to try dad because it's not fair on the rest of the team and I don't want it to look like I only got this far because of who my dad is" Ivy huffed as she threw all of her stuff in her car.
"Nobody thinks that Ivy absolutely no one... what's all the noise in the background" he asked.
"Well I don't want them to think that at all so if that's going to be a problem for you to treat me like an equal then just tell me and I'll quit and what do you think it is I'm coming home" she snapped.
"You don't have to come home Ivy" he answered as she laughed.
"Are you being serious you've just told me Elle was shot and the doctors are saying it's not looking good and then you tell me that the rest of the team has been back working since Tuesday and it's now Friday while I've been having a great time with my friends when I'm meant to be working. You can't seriously think I'd stay for the last two days, Olivia's going to get her sister to pick her they both understand why I'm leaving so I'll be there soon" Ivy hung up the phone as she drove in the direction of the hospital.
