Chapter 24: Wraths Against Shinazugawa

Sane woke up to the sound of horrid screams, Sane quickly got up, as he ran out to the living room, there he saw his little siblings, completely beaten, their drunk father: Kyogo standing over them.

Genya tried his best to protect them as their mother was out. She was at work. Sanemi covered his mouth as tears quickly formed in his eyes.

Before he knew it, he felt his feet moving as his father began to lift his hand again, coming in contact with the shorter child in front of him, "Sane!" Genya cried as he held his younger siblings close. "Genya..Please try and get them safe.." Sane whispered, Kyogo grabbing Sane in response "The hell you mean "get them safe"?! They're safe here. Stop trying to play hero!" Kyogo yelled as he punched Sane again. And again—and again. Sane crying and wincing with every punch that was thrown at him. Sane endured the pain, trying to keep his siblings safe, when his father finished—there lay a beaten Sane, blood and bruises covered his body, as he tried to stand up, his body aching with pain from his fathers beating.

Sane successfully stood up, walking to the bathroom as he began to clean his wounds. He carefully wrapped bandages around his arms and legs, covering the scar that cut his cheek with a band-aid. When he finished; he slowly walked to Genyas room, opening the door, to see him and the younger ones sleeping. He smiled softly, relaxing his body as he closed the door quietly behind him.

He made it to his room, closing the door quietly as he sat at his desk, writing down a few things before laying down. He shut his eyes in an attempt to sleep, however, his attempt was flawed. With a groan of annoyance, he sat back up. Getting changed quickly before fixing up his hair, brushing hit teeth etc. He smiled as he heard the front door open. Quickly rushing out his room, ignoring the pain that ran through his veins. "Mom!" Sane smiled hugging Shizu, "Hello, Sane!" She smiled hugging him back, she took quick notice of his bandages.

"Sane? Did your father beat you again?" She asked guilt filling her heart. "I..Was protecting Genya and Haru, and the rest..." Sane answered. (not their real names (aka the younger siblings)) "Oh sweetie.." Shizu replied kneeling down, she placed a kiss on his forehead. Hugging him once more. Sane hugged back rather quickly, not wanting to let go. "Uhm mom?" Sane started getting a content hum from his mom, "Can I go outside?" He asked looking up at the kind hearted woman in front of him. "Sure thing.." She smiled softly. Shizu kissed his cheek before standing up, "If you want, you can take the others too." She smiled warmly, Sane nodded in response.

Shizu prepared lunch for them before she walked to Genyas room, seeing him and the others sleeping peacefully. She smiled before walking in, she shook them lightly "Hey...get up, I made lunch." She whispered getting a few groans in response "Can you get up for mom, please?" She continued as Genya and a couple of them woke up. "Mom..?" Genya whispered "Yes, hunny?" She replied softly "Is dad gone?" He asked "Well, not exactly. He's getting ready though, I'm sure of it." She answered as she continued to shake the rest, Genya stepping in to help.

Once they were fully awake—they got out of bed. Following the kind hearted woman out of Genyas room. "I made you guys some bento boxes." She stated as she took them off the counter placing them on the table. "What about you, mom?" Sane asked "I'm about to grab it." She giggled.

She sat down with her kids, as they ate, Kyogo walked out of the room "Hello, Kyogo." Shizu greeted "Where's my food?" He asked "It's in that bag." Shizu replied coldly as she pointed to the bag on the counter "Whatever." He answered as he grabbed the bag before heading out the door, slamming it behind him. "I'm sorry you have to have such a father." Shizu stated as her eyes narrowed unable to face her children."It's okay, mom. We still have you!" Rumui smiled as she looked at her mother "Yeah." Haru agreed. Shizu looked back up at them "Thank you, I don't know what I would do without you guys.." She smiled as she finished up her bento box.

It was getting late, and Kyogo was still out. During that time, he encountered someone from his neighborhood. Grabbing his arm "Excuse me sir?" The neighbor began "What?" Kyogo replied rather harshly "I would like to talk to you. I'm your neighbor. Okatsuma Tsuimo." He stated "Yeah. Kyogo Shinazugawa." Kyogo replied "I'm aware." Okatsuma replied "Now what do you want from me?" Kyogo asked facing the male. "I hear screams from your house. Children screaming, you yelling." Okatsuma replied. "That's none of your concern." Kyogo replied "Last time I checked you're the one who is the cause of all of this, correct me if i'm wrong?" Okatsuma replied.

Kyogo lifted his hand attempting to punch the male "Such accusations! Do YOU really think i'd do something like that?!" Kyogo yelled "Yes." Okatsuma replied. He pulled out a knife, stabbing Kyogo in the stomach, getting a scream of pain in response, the man pushed him down, getting on top of him, stabbing him relentlessly in the chest, blood and screams echoed throughout the alley. As Okatsuma continued to stab him. When he finished; Okatsuma stabbed himself, the chest: the heart and slit his throat, a pool of blood surrounded the two body's, that were now lifeless.

Sirens echoed through the streets as a search began, it took a few hours before they found the two bodies, they quickly called in an ambulance, however, they were too late.

When they identified the bodies, the police broke the news to the Shinazugawa family, "Are you Mrs Shinazugawa?" They asked "Yes, Shizu Shinazugawa. Is there anything I can help you guys with?" She asked opening the door wider. "Yes, it's about your husband: Kyogo Shinazugawa." They started "What about him?" Shizu asked giving them a troubled look.

They fell silent for a few seconds taking a breath before continuing "He's been stabbed to death." They finalized "Excuse me?" Shizu asked "He was stabbed to death?" She repeated, getting a nod in response "I'm very sorry about your loss. Ma'am." They apologized "No need...Thank you for doing your job." Shizu replied before they walked away. She closed the door to see Sane behind her, "Sane..?" She said startled "He's dead?" Sane said holding back a smile, Shizu nodded as a grin began to form on her lips, tears welling in her eyes. "We're free.." She announced as tears began to fall from her eyes.

Sane smiled too, hugging his mom tightly. Soon, Shizu pulled away, "Let's..tell your siblings?" She asked as Sane nodded in response, they made their way to Genyas room, expect him to be there. "Oh. We were hanging out in my room, sorry I forgot." Sane stated, Shizu giggled before they turned around and walked towards Sanes room instead.

They opened the door "We have news. It's about father." Sane started as he sat on his bed.
"Eh? What is it?" Geny asked as the others nodded—showing they were listening. "We just got news about father. He's been killed.." Sane stated as the room fell silent. "Huh?" One of the little ones asked, "Fathers dead, sweetie." Shizu elaborated as they younger ones bursted into tears. Genya smiled "He's finally dead?" He asked wanting to know if what he heard was true, bringing the younger ones whom were crying into a big hug, "Yep." Shizu confirmed "We can finally be at peace?" Genya mumbled as his smile grew wider, "We're free." Shizu smiled as the younger kids calmed down slightly.

Sane woke up in a sweat, the long nightmare finally coming to an end. "Eh..? Sane?" Gichii asked looking up at his lover "Are you alright?" He asked, "Yeah." Sane answered "Just a nightmare." Sane finished "Thanks." He thanked as he sat up.
