Wow long time no see, huh? Yeah. Sorry I've been extremely burnt out ;o; I have so many ideas for this ship but not much motivation to do anything with it </3 I apologize for the lack of updates. It sucks. But I'm gonna try 'n do better and write more!!! anywho! I don't write fluff enough, but regardless, hopefully y'all like it <3 also as a lil before you read thing, its a modern highschool au with a few personal headcanons slipped in there BC I'm cringe. It was the day before Valentine's Day, and Red Velvet was an anxious mess. He's been head over feels for his friend Licorice, but couldn't gain the courage to tell him. He worried that if he told Licorice how he felt, he'd stop being his friend. "Hey! Earth to Velvet! Hellooo?" Licorice said, waving his hand in front of Red Velvet's face. Red Velvet had gotten so lost in his thoughts that he somehow forgot he was talking to Licorice. "O-Oh..! Sorry....what did you say?" Red Velvet apologized shyly. Licorice couldn't help but smile. "It's alright, anyway, I asked if you had any plans for Valentine's Day. It'd be a perfect day to have plans since it for once happens on a weekend!" Licorice said, nudging Red Velvet's arm. "Well..no... Do you?" Red Velvet asked, raising an eyebrow. "Of course I do!" Licorice laughed nervously. It was obvious he was lying. "Licorice. Do you?" Red Velvet reiterated. "Ugh! Fine..you got me. I don't..I wish I did though.." Licorice groaned. Red Velvet got an idea. It was a risky one, but what else did he have to lose? "What if we spent it together? As friends of course!" He said with an excited smile, his fangs just barely visible from his smile. 'Yeah...as friends...' Red Velvet thought. Licorice's eyes widened as a smile crept on his face. "Really?!??" Licorice gasped. Red Velvet nodded. "Yeah! Just have a day out. You and me" he said with a smile. "I'm SO looking forward to tomorrow then! I've never had anybody to celebrate it with before!" Licorice said excitedly, screwing his eyes shut as he hugged Red Velvet tightly. Red Velvet's face flushed heavily as he hesitantly hugged Licorice back. Just then, the bell to signify the end of the period rang. "I'll seeya tomorrow then!" Licorice said as he got up and ran out of class. Red Velvet sat there, zoning out again. 'Oh god...what did I get myself into???' He thought nervously. "Hey, you ready to go home?" Madeleine asked as he tapped on Red Velvet's desk. "Yeah..! Can I uhm...talk to you though?" Red Velvet asked his older brother. Madeleine nodded. On their way out of the school, Red Velvet looked around nervously, hoping Licorice wasn't nearby. "So, what's up?" Madeleine asked as they started walking back home since their place was within walking distance from their school. Red Velvet sighed heavily once he knew he was safe to talk. "So...basically... I kinda asked Licorice out for Valentine's Day tomorrow.." He admitted nervously. "No way you did???? Nice job! And?? What'd he saayyy???" Madeleine asked, his interest piquing since Red Velvet was never able to get himself to date anybody. "He said yes b-" "Awh hell yeah! That's my lil brother!" Madeleine interrupted, then pulling Red Velvet close and ruffling up his hair. "N-No! It's not like that! I.." "You like him. Don't you?" Madeleine interrupted once again. Red Velvet shook his head no, but the fact his small cakehound-like tail was wagging back and forth rather aggressively said otherwise. "Velvet...c'mon. Your tail is giving it away...c'mon! Just tell me!" Madeleine whined. Red Velvet grabbed his tail and held it to keep it from wagging. "Fine! Fine...I DO like him...I'm just..scared he'll leave me once he knows I like him like that..." Red Velvet sighed deeply. "Knew it. You should tell him though! Tell him how you feel!" Madeleine said, nudging Red Velvet's shoulder. "You...you think I should?" Red Velvet asked, his voice laced with uncertainty. "Totally! Though if you want to confess, tell him at the very end of your...'date' tomorrow...because if
you tell him towards the start, he might just...leave..though it seems unlikely..especially for him" Madeleine said reassuringly. Red Velvet nodded slightly. Once the two got home, Red Velvet went straight to his room and quickly sent Licorice a text.
'Hey! So my plan for tomorrow is to pick you up and take you to that one café you're always talking about for breakfast, and we just go from there! Let me know if that works! :]'
Red Velvet panicked as soon as he sent the text. 'Ding!' Licorice had already responded.
'Awesome!! Sounds like a plan to me! I'm stoked!'
Licorice replied, then immediately texting back again.
'I forgot to ask! Should I dress nice or...??'
Red Velvet felt his heart skip a beat.
'Dress how you want to! I don't plan on anything too fancy..since that's not my thing hahah'
'Okay good BC I hate dressing up fancy! But of course if you'd ask, I'd do it ;) jk jk but anyway! Seeya tomorrow! :D'
Red Velvet felt himself blush heavily at the slight teasing that Licorice was doing. "He...he has to know! Right...?" He said out loud. He eventually shrugged it off as nothing and started planning the rest of the day out for tomorrow. Red Velvet had planned a lot of things that Licorice had absentmindedly talked about during class. He took note of the things Licorice had said he liked and didn't like in a person and what his ideal date would be.
'I just hope he feels the same..'
