I jumped to the sudden sound of my alarm clock. "Ugh," I thought. "Only four more days until school." Since I was already awake and couldn't get back to sleep, I got dressed. I usually wear the same thing: a long-sleeved white shirt and jeans. It saves me time in the morning, which is really handy sometimes. I have two other outfits I could choose from, but this one was my favorite. I didn't care that I was wearing fall-weather clothes during summer, because I never go outside that much. I slowly walk to the bathroom to brush my fur.

After a few minutes of brushing, I go downstairs to find something to eat. My mom wasn't in the kitchen, which was really odd, because she was always in the kitchen. After some house searching, I found a note that said,

"Good morning, Dominic! I just had to go shopping at the store for a bit. I'll be back in an hour or two.

Love you!"

"Okay," I thought, "guess I'll go check the mail."

I slipped my flip-flops on, grabbed the mailbox key, and headed outside.

"Holy crap! Boy, is it hot." I thought.

I rolled up my sleeves all the way and started walking all the way to the mailbox. Since I live in a townhouse neighborhood, all the mailboxes are in one place. When I finally got there, I stood there under the shade and cooled off. I grabbed the key and unlocked the mailbox.

No mail. "Great." I thought.

I headed back to the house and plopped myself on the couch. I was still really hot from outside, so I took my shirt off and threw it upstairs. I don't care, it was really hot. That didn't help though, so I went back upstairs, took my jeans off, and put some shorts on. "Better." I thought. When I got back downstairs, I immediately turned the living room fan on, and got some cold soda.

I sat back down and checked my phone. All I had was some Instagram notifications. I had nothing better to do, so I opened Instagram and checked new posts from other people. Afterwards, I got my headphones and started listening to some trap music.

In the middle of my music, I got a text from mom. Apparently, Grandma got hurt and she was staying with her to take care of her. She said she'd be back at like 2:00 on the 3rd. Meaning, she would be back on the night before school.  I was totally shocked. In fact so shocked, I fell off the couch somehow. When I got up, all I saw was blue hair. I pushed my hair out of my face. "Well, isn't that timing perfect." I said to myself.

As I grumbled to myself, I heard a knock at the door.

I opened the door and saw someone I've never seen before.

(Author's Note: Thank you so much for reading my first chapter! Since I'm writing this during a three-day weekend, I am probably going to release the second chapter either later tonight or tomorrow. Thank you so much!)
