Val's pov

I snuck back into the palace and proceeded to the kitchen to apologize to the workers for having Legolas pull me out. I honestly don't care what he thinks, I can make my own decisions, I decide.

"Val!" The chef said and gave me a bone crushing hug.

"Hello, I wanted to apologize for earlier, I don't know what was wrong with Legolas."

"It's fine! No big deal!" He bellowed.

I thanked him again and prepared for dinner which I would have to go and sit across from legolas, great. I really wanted to avoid him but I can't since he lives here.

I walked out once again and just wandered. I thought about things that have been happening and I thought, how could he still be this nice after everything he has been through? I saw across the gap which was for the river flowing through the kingdom, Legolas and Tauriel talking. a pang of jealously shot inside of me and I swallow it down. She was waving her hands around and I thought she was crying. Maybe he rejected her, he responded and walked away and left her to herself.

She walked out and dried her face. I followed her making sure to stay just around the corner. I ended up at the stables and she went to request a horse.

"Lord lenir, I need a fast horse to make it four days." she said

"May I ask for where you are going?"

"Lorien, I need to discuss something,"

She rode off and I thought, what captain of the guard would leave and not tell anyone, not even the king. I wondered what she was up to. I walked to the library to see of there were any books worth retreading or reading in general, alas nothing. I was just about to give up when a much older book on the shelf caught my eyes and I slowly walked over to it. I pulled it out and looked at the cover, it was blank.

I took it and started to walk to my room when I saw Legolas walking toward me at a fats pace. He looked tired, but I don't think he has slept since our argument.

"Val we need to talk," he said and grabbed my wrist and led me down a different hallway that I had never been down before.

"What Legolas?" I said clearly annoyed after we stopped in the middle of the hallway.

"Look, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off so badly."

"Well why did you say it at all?"

"Because I feel protective of you and I... I... never mind but I just was wondering that day why you were there."

"But if I look happy and unharmed around anyone, then I'm fine." I said and my free hand reached up and caressed his cheek with my thumb under his eye.

He leaned into it and brought his hand to cover mine to keep it stay there.

"Can you forgive me?" He asked

"Of course, I could never stay mad at you for something like that." I replied and we both smiled.

I told him I had to go and I traveled bak to my room. I sat at the desk and opened the cover to find an inscription saying a message.

For the one to wear the crown of the forest and alongside the king

I ran my delicate fingers across the words and thought, was this for the queen? Legolas dead mother? I looked through to see special spells and and secret exits out of the castle. it was everything I shouldn't know about.

"Hello, val?" Came a voice opening the door.

I quickly closed the book and slid it under the pillow of my bed just as he walked in.

"Hello legolas, what can I help you with?"

"We will depart for lorien as soon as Tauriel returns from her journey." he replied.

"Ok. do you know when she shall return?"

"In two days she should,"

"I will remember that, thank you legolas."

"You are welcome val,"

Time skip
Two days later

Mid afternoon, we departed to the city of Lorien. we would ride for four days and reach the city by dawn on the 26th I thought. hopefully no complications.

I had gotten a returning letter from my father saying that they will all be there for two days but I knew that I would be there longer. I felt the need to stay with Legolas and stay close. I was so happy that we made up but there was still the fact of, tauriel and her threats.

"Val we will travel swift to reach a day earlier," he said as we mounted.

"Ok,"

We rode a uneventful trip. I had my armor on with my hair in a French braid. I couldn't wait for my family to meet me even if it is for only a little time. I hadn't seen them in such a long time.
