I struggled to speak as they all seemed like they wanted to throw me in prison or something.
"W-what do you mean? I'm just-"
"Can it, y/n," Leo said, and I was hurt at his sharp tone, already missing his obnoxious energy. "We know you've been lying to us."
I felt my heart drop. What gave me away that I was different? "But I don't-"
Donnie crossed his arms. "Would you like to know what gave you away? The fact that you knew Nardo's and Micheal's names before we introduced ourselves." I remembered bumping into him and explaining why I was running away not even five hours ago.
"And then you knew Splinter's name even though we had only called him dad in front of you," Mikey said, and I could see him trying to keep up his tough exterior. My heart ached to see him almost in tears.
April stepped forward, looking more angry than the rest. "And I never had a name tag, which means you were either stalking me before our first 'meeting' or knew me beforehand." Her sharp edged glasses seemed to amplify her narrowing eyes.
"Not to mention you knew how to get out of the sewers on your own and managed to get even us lost," Raph stared accusingly at me, and I got my body trembling. I had no idea how many times I had slipped up on the first day.
What was I supposed to do? Supposed to say? There was no way I could get out of this lie this time with another one, and I desperately needed these guys to help me find Braeden and Annabelle. But they wouldn't believe me if I told them anything else.
I sighed, rubbing my forehead as I felt a headache coming on. "Okay, yes, I admit I've lied. I lied because that was the only way to get you guys to help me."
Mikey seemed to soften up. "Help you get your brother and sister?" Donnie elbowed him hard. "Ow! What was that for?"
"Because we don't even know if they even are her siblings. For all we know, this could be a trap!"
"Well why don't we let her explain her side of the story instead of trying to guess her intentions," Raph said, sitting on the couch, knowing I won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
They all looked at me, and I could have sworn my heart was about to bounce out of my chest because I was terrified of how they would react with another lie.
Taking a deep breath, I began to explain my situation. I started from the very beginning and said a portal had appeared in my living room (emphasizing on the fact that it was pink, when everyone turned towards a defensive Leo). I explained that that was how we ended up in the fish port.
"But that doesn't tell us how you knew our names."
I took a breath, unsure of how they would react to this. "It's because...I'm from another world."
For a second I thought they were still listening intently, but my assumptions were wrong and they bursted out laughing.
"What? What's so funny?" I asked, horrified.
"Y-you think we're gonna believe this?" Donnie wheezed, falling to the ground.
"She really is a Jupiter Jim wannabe!" Leo cackled.
They continued hee-ing and haw-ing as I figured out a way to make them believe.
"Well, you got the cartoon part right." They continued to laugh, but they all soon looked at my serious demeanor and all giggles died. They all stared at me in confusion.
