"So tell me this again, how exactly did you and your siblings get to that smelly fish market?"
It was like the first day of school: introductions and going over your summer vacation. Only except that I had to explain the unexplainable to the four turtles that were perched on their- might I add- disgusting couch. I was debating if I should tell them that they were a cartoon in my world or not.
I chose the latter.
Shifting from foot to foot, I came up with a lie to cover up my tracks. I don't think they were ready for that revaluation quite yet. "So what happened was we were supposed to go on some errands and we were just passing by and heard that resounding boom and went to check it out and here we are."
They all sat in thought, and I felt a bead of sweat run down my neck. After an unnecessary amount of silence, they all nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, I guess we could be a little loud at times," Mikey said.
"Loud?! Guys, we blew up an entire block," Leon said in a victorious tone. "No regrets."
I sighed. "But doesn't that defeat the purpose of being ninjas? As in teenage mutant ninja turtles?"
A brief silence passed.
"THAT'S IT!" Screamed Raph, knocking everyone to the ground and rupturing all of our eardrums in the process.
Donnie groaned, spinning on his shell. "Was that amount of volume really necessary for the sudden realization?"
Raph nodded proudly. "Absolutely. Now we don't have to go by Mad Dogs anymore!"
"I dunno. I kinda liked Mad Dogs." Mikey picked himself up.
I shrugged. "It's a bit of a mouthful. And when you're explaining yourself to others it can get your tongue tied."
Mikey clapped. "So we can keep Mad Dogs!"
Leon nodded in agreement and punched Donnie.
"OW! WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!"
I wanted to laugh, but I knew I had to be polite and just only hold back my snort. Donnie glared at me but went back to Leon.
"Because, man, she's smarter than you! Look at it this way," he put an arm around him and stretched his hand in front of them both, mimicking a vision, "this will be your downfall and rise of the once great Donatello-"
"What is going on here!?"
Everyone looked to the doorway and I saw the four foot rat in a robe standing with arms crossed. I knew Splinter was going to show up at some point, but I had to suppress the urge to scream and run. When he saw me, he did the screaming part.
"A human?! My sons, why is there a human in my TV room!"
Notice how he said 'TV room' and not 'the lair'. Would he not have cared if I had marched in in any other place?
Raph was the first one to stutter a response.
"Oh, uh, so this is y/n and before you do anything, she witnessed all of us fighting some bad guys and her siblings were taken and so we-"
"-thought that we could help her?" Splinter now tried to stand to his full height, but I assumed his back was just as bad as he said in later episodes and barely rose an inch. He narrowed his eyes. "Come to me, human."
