A pained groan left your throat. You opened your eyes but...you couldn't see anything? The atmosphere was dreary and unclear in a sort of way, yet still clear enough for you to understand what was happening.
The darkness which you had been stuck in was slowly beginning to fade away, and your vision was able to make out a figure. They stood in a way which made them almost look intimidating, as they looked extremely large yet seemed so far away.
Your eyes tried to focus on the figure, but they only blurred more and you began to squint your eyes. Once you had blinked, however, they had disappeared. Your eyes had looked around for them, clearly confused in your hazy state, and you could feel the world slightly shift as your head was uneasy just as you were.
As your senses tried to understand what was happening around them, you slowly began to realise something was slowly twisting round your legs. Your face immediately contorted into one of disgust, especially due to the texture of whatever it was. As your eyes were looking down as to what exactly was touching your leg in such a weird way, you noticed a green light which illuminated your face. Your eyes winced in response to something which contrasted your surroundings vibrantly, but soon your eyes had gotten used to the light and began to be more relaxed.
The light had easily been able to line out who was in front of you... you were quite scared of the sight in front of you. You could make out a face, which seemed to be melting? Was it melting or was that excess goo?
"Hello, human."
"...Woah. Uh ok."
You had let out as a genuine reaction as you did not expect that thing to speak.
"Let's keep this short and sweet."
"...Um wha-"
And you were slammed against a wall, your breath was floating away from you as you could feel the same slimy substance which was previously writhing around your leg strangle you with surprising strength.
And then you felt water. Extremely thick water all around. The slimy tendril had gone but you were drowning, once again taken away from your privilege of breathing. You tried gasping for air, but the thick, black substance had shoved itself down your throat.
You choked, and tried to do something to get out. You even tried screaming, but they were only let out as gurgles and loud chokes.
And suddenly...you weren't choking. Your body heaved up and down, grateful for air and you noticed where you were. It was the town centre. From your old city, where you used to go every week. You were gone for quite a while, and you felt your face tingle because of how much you had missed being somewhere you had known.
You immediately got up and looked around, trying to see if anyone would notice you, but they continued on moving. You dismissed it for now, and went on to your friend, who was always selling something at his stall. You noticed he was currently serving something to an old woman.
You stood behind the old woman, watching her take her handful of donuts which he had decided on selling today. Once she had paid and thanked him, she left, leaving you to be standing in front of him.
"Hey Axel, been a while huh?" You grinned up at him, but he seemed not to answer. Heck, he didn't even look at you, and he looked into the distance, bored. He then proceeded to take his phone out, and just check it. The nerve of this guy.
"Wow ok, so I don't come here for days and you just ignore me? You know that's fine with me."
Nothing. Not even a hum, or a nod to acknowledge he was ignoring you as he usually would. Your brows were knitted together in confusion, he never usually did this?
Looking to your side, you noticed someone walking towards you. They were just walking straight in a path, with no clear intention of changing direction. They then shoved past you, as if you weren't even there. You rubbed your arm in discomfort.
"Um, rude." You were about to go over and try to stop the person to ask them why they had so rudely just shoved themselves into you, when you heard Axel saying your name. Finally, he was talking to you.
"I wonder where they are... Oh well, I hope they're dead. They were annoying as shit anyway." He said so nonchalantly, and you could feel your heart almost split. He what? What was wrong with Axel?
...
AND WHY ON EARTH WAS HE TALKING ABOUT YOU RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM??
You huffed angrily, and stormed off, and more people shoved into you as if they had never seen you in their way in the first place. You didn't even catch one 'Sorry' or some sort of apology once they did so.
It was like...
You weren't there.
Despite all the people you knew, nobody rushed to see you after you were missing.
"You don't matter...
You don't even exist to them."
You tried walking away from the town centre, to think about this, but you were unable to. It was like you were being dragged to forcefully go and watch. Every footstep forward was 10 inches back. The soles of your shoes felt like they were being anchored into the earth, and you had fell over due to the sheer force of how badly you didn't want to deal with this right now.
Your hands scraped over pavement to try and crawl away but you were being dragged so fast now, the friction against your stomach and the ground was burning yet you couldn't scream. You were overwhelmed by the amounts of voices and people and thoughts rushing through your head.
Everyone just stepped over you, unaware of the fact you were being dragged and pulled and on the verge of crying your heart out. You felt their soles jab into your back, and watched as they continued walking onwards, ignoring the pain.
Your head was crowded with intrusive thoughts, all the things you hoped wouldn't be true. There were so many whispers, each all happening at the same time. You heard you weren't loved, you heard you weren't there, you heard you were nonexistent, you heard you were worthless.
However, one voice stuck out to you the most...
"No matter how far you run,
Your fears and terrors shall always follow."

Woop woop, this chapter took WAY too long. I had exams to deal with, but it's finished now.
