The city was always busy, but the beaches on a hot February day were the to picks for an Aussie. Some days Eva would rant about how sorry she felt for school kids, kept out in the sun on those 30 degree lunchtimes. Once, She wound up nearly pouring a bucket of water on Fawks for telling her to shut up. "How 'bout we leave the crime to the cops, and take a swim?" The Hawk would not allow this, seeing as she only had a few minutes before needing to get ready for work. "It's nearly 10 kid."
"Just cause your older, doesn't mean you can call me 'kid'"
"Yes, it does, that's exactly what it means." This time, Fawks used human English, deciding to make Eva mad at the same time. Fawks and Eva can speak English and Hawk, but they tend to stick to their own language. As they glided back home, Eva spied none other than her boss eating a messy, saucy hot dog on her way to work. Sharon had the audacity of telling her own employees that 'you can't eat on the job or on your way to work, it gives us a bad look' [to be read with posh, high pitched bratty British voice.] and yet her shirt was drowning in tomato sauce and mustard.
The only thing Eva wasn't looking forward to was work. Which was right across the road from her attic and yet so far every time she's hungry.
The dreadful walk to Woolworths was unfortunate and dry. So much so that one could compare it to walking to school. Slowly, uncomfortably walking into what you know will be pain and suffering.
