Eva's bird alarm clock went off early, as Eva looked at her hands, the scar that hadn't been there when she went to sleep was still there, as though it had always been there. Had that strange dream been real? Like her subconscious trying to teach her? That's rubbish, Eva had been just the bird girl for so long, it was hard to remember if she was ever not the bird girl.

Eva pulled out her mirror keychain, the brown eye she used to have was amber. It was difficult to notice, so hopefully, the locals won't suspect a thing. But Sharon, being the biggest butt Eva had ever known, may notice.

Eva stood, walking outside, watching the outdoors be the outdoors. She summoned what was supposed to be a small amount of fire, Then just getting out of hand and being distinguished. She walked in to the list of shopping items. Picking it up, it started to shrivel, turning a golden brown, Eva dropped it immediately. She cannot hold paper. Eva walked to the gold ring on her bedside table. It wasn't real gold, only coated in gold, it was worth a total of $10. It was her mother's.

Sliding the ring on her finger, she walked over to a spare piece of paper, wanting to watch it burn, picking it up, it didn't shrivel and die, then roll in the flames. It stayed fine. She switched hands, to the one that was burned, and, to Eva's dis-satisfaction, it didn't burn. Curious, Eva removed the golden ring. The paper then begun to burn. The paper erupted into flame, turning to ash in her hands. Does gold stop the fire? To further investigate, she held a gold coin, carefully picking up a piece of paper. It burned. 50 cent coin, paper burned. Holding gold ring, paper burned. Putting on silver ring, paper burned.

Rings and other things that surround her skin in gold, stops flame. Discovering this, she pulled the ring back on, and went shopping.

Eva walked to the grocery store first, enjoying the fresh smell as she swiftly gathered items from the nut section.

As she was about to check out, she saw Cameron walk into her stall, Eva walked over to her and began putting her things out on the conveyor. Checking no-one was around, Cameron leaned in, "I know who you are, and I want to help you, meet at the end of my shift." That sparked Eva to think where she went wrong, the mask? The outfit? Cameron was only a couple years older than Eva, and yet she thought she was so cleaver keeping that secret.

If you have any ideas for an ally to Eva and Fawks, please let me know, I am trying to get the 2 people into this book, but even an introvert needs friends, give me some ideas. I currently do not have any LGBTQ+ characters in my character list.
