CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT
the reveal˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗
"So, Lydia might be the Kanima?" Rhys asked as Stiles, Harley, Scott and Alison gathered for a secret meeting in the coach's office.Stiles and Rhys had gone back to chemistry after his reaction to the Kanima venom to find out that Lydia did not react whatsoever even after eating the toxic venom - not even a temporary illness like Rhys.
"Yes and Derek is outside waiting for her," Scott explained looking over the group apprehensively. Alison let out a shuddering breath - her head shaking in disbelief.
"Waiting to kill her?" She asked, frowning.
"If he thinks she's the Kanima, then yes," Scott said, looking over them worriedly.
"It's not Lydia," Harley protested. Rhys turned to her a small frown on his face, he placed a hand on her shoulder comfortingly.
"Harley," Rhys sighed - "she didn't pass the test, nothing happened," he spoke softly, trying not to upset her.
"No, it's not her," She shook her head defiantly. Harley met his eyes, "It-it doesn't make sense, its Lydia, she's not evil." She stumbled through her words.
Allison shook her head, "It doesn't matter because Derek still thinks it is her. So, either we can convince him he is wrong, or we've got to figure out a way to protect her."
"I really don't think he's going to do anything here, not at school," Scott insisted.
"What about after school?" The hunter added.
All five teenagers, stood puzzling for a solution to protect their friend.
"What if we can prove Derek's wrong?"Allison began to form a plan.
"By three o'clock?" Stiles raised his eyebrow; not putting his confidence in the idea.
"There could be something in the bestiary," she attempted.
"Yeah, one problem," Stiles spoke up. "It's written in Archaic Latin, that none of us can read by the way. So good luck with that."
"Actually, I think I know someone who might be able to translate it," said Allison.
"Uh, I can talk to Derek." Scott attempted to add to the plan, "Maybe convince him to give us a chance to prove that it's not her. But if anything happens you guys let me handle it, okay?" Scott finished with his hero complex taking over. Not that Rhys minded, he wasn't exactly equipped with claws or fangs for 'handling' things.
"What does that mean?" Allison murmured to her secret boyfriend.
"It means you can't heal like I do," He told her, "I don't want you getting hurt."
Allison stood up and turned around to grab her bag that was sitting on the stool. Everyone watched in confusion as she rummaged through it, she then turned to them displaying her bow and confident look on her face.
"I can protect myself," she insisted. Scott didn't reply to her, he just stared at her, his eyes softening, "What?" She lowered her bow, "Did something else happen?"
