CHAPTER ONE
new year, same shit

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

Rhys gripped the stirring wheel in front of him, focusing on the road ahead as Lydia and Allison chatted about their summer experiences. Rhys' has been average, no supernatural surprises, (except for the reoccurring dream of his parents deaths – although that didn't matter at the moment). He had learnt to drive, got his first car, although he was still terrified of crashing (thanks mum and dad, again) and the only bonus was being able to blast his music on late night drives.

Also, this summer, he had a boyfriend. A really dorky and stupid boyfriend but Rhys liked him a lot. He never thought he could feel this way about someone but he swore he could never get tired of Stiles. Everything about him, was amazing and beautiful and sent butterflies to his stomach. Rhys always thought he was one to hate relationship things but he guessed that was because he had never been in one.

"I'm not ready to get back out there," Allison explained to them as Lydia suggested that she went on a double date with her and some random guy.

Rhys nodded in understanding, Allison and Scott had been through a lot when they were dating – it would make sense if she was finding it hard to move on.

Lydia, however, shot Allison a disapproving glance, "You were in France for four months and didn't do any dating?" Her voice holding a judgemental tone.

"Did you?" Allison fired back. "I mean after..."

"Do not say his name," Lydia interrupted quickly, pursing her lips together.

Allison leaned forward from her seat in the back, "Is he okay?" She asked, referring to Jackson, "I mean, did everything work out?"

"Well, the doctors looked like total idiots when he turned up alive, but everyone got over it," Rhys sighed, remembering what that felt like. Lydia continued, "And yes. Derek taught him the werewolf 101, like how not to randomly kill people during a full moon," She finished recalling her summer with a scoff.

Rhys glanced at her, he knew it hurt more to see Jackson leave that she let on. Rhys still didn't like him though.

"So then you've talked to him?" Allison grinned at her friend.

"Uh, not since he left for London," Lydia shook her head.

"You mean since his dad moved him to London," Rhys corrected, his eyes still laser focused on the dark road ahead.

"Whatever," Lydia said dismissively, "he left. And seriously, an American werewolf in London? Like that's not going to be a disaster."

Rhys nodded, "Yep, he will suffer."

Allison laughed at his comment, before looking at Lydia once again, "So you're totally over him?"

"Would I be going on a double date if I wasn't?" She said quickly, before turning her stressed gaze to Rhys. "Why aren't you attacking him with questions, huh? He's the one with a boyfriend."

"Do not distract me, Lydia," Rhys warned, he was a terrible driver, he had no idea why he offered to do this. He eased the car into a stop as they reached a red light.

"This road is literally empty," Allison reassured, "you're doing great. You passed your driving test for a reason."

"I barely passed," Rhys laughed, finally looking away from the road to glance at Allison, "I think he gave it to me out of pity."

Allison smiled, a laugh escaping her lips, but then it suddenly dropped as her gaze went to the window. She flung her self to the backseats, "Oh, my God. Oh, my God. I can't see him, not now."
