Beomgyu tried to distract himself but he couldn't get the previous incident out of his head. Taehyun had always been weird. That Soobin guy was weird. And while he didn't know Yeonjun, he just assumed that he was probably weird too.

He let out a deep sigh and laid down on his bed. Beomgyu took out his phone and let his fingers hover over Taehyuns contact for a while before he put it down again.

It didn't matter. He wasn't good enough friends with his coworker to pry into his private affairs like that. For all he knew, none of this concerned him.

Deciding to not think about it anymore, he turned the light off and tucked himself into the blanket.

...

...

...

Ah, so it's one of those nights, Beomgyu thought to himself. He couldn't sleep. Recently, he had been more or less fine when it came to sleeping that he had started to believe that he was doing better mentally.

Nah, he thought. I just can't sleep because of what happened today. He closed his eyes shut and tried to think about nothing. But it was too quiet for that. Suddenly he heard something rustling in the apartment next to his. His neighbor was still awake it seemed.

Shit, now it's not quiet enough. Beomgyu was never able to explain his sleeping problems to other people. Normally, you might think of a bit of rustling or hearing some very quiet footsteps from the next room as a bit annoying, but nothing more than that usually, you'd still be able to ignore it.

But it wasn't just annoying to him – he couldn't sleep like that. Moreover, on some days, it was so bad that it would make him angry and he sometimes started crying. He was angry at himself for letting such a minor problem be such a big issue for him.

And it seemed like tonight would be like that. Beomgyu quickly pulled his blanket over his ears as he could feel a few warm tears roll down his cheek. Luckily, the blanket was enough to block out the noise and he could feel his heartbeat slowly calm down again. But now his thoughts were occupied and he felt wide awake. He really hated himself for this.

The next morning, Beomgyu felt like shit. He had barely managed to fall asleep 2 hours before his alarm rang. Which wasn't good because he and Taehyun had the opening shift today.

»Hey, sorry I'm late, I overslept!« he said as he entered his workplace. But then he noticed that Taehyun wasn't there yet. That was odd. Taehyun was never late, if anything, he would usually be way too early.

Whatever, he thought. Beomgyu quickly prepared the cafe and somehow managed to open on time. Taehyun was still nowhere to be seen and he realized that he would have to manage everything himself. »Great«, Beomgyu mumbled to himself.

He checked the work phone but there weren't any missed calls. Taehyun also hadn't called or messaged him. So he probably wasn't sick either. Beomgyus mind wandered back to yesterday, to Soobins sudden visit. He didn't know the details but whoever this Yeonjun was, he ran away... and it seemed very urgent so maybe that's why Taehyun didn't come to work?

Beomgyu stopped thinking about it when the first customer entered the cafe.

[rrring]

[rrrriing] The work phone kept ringing and Beomgyu rushed to take it.

»Hello, this is Cafe Fluttershy how can I help you?«

But he got no answer.

»Hello?« He asked.

»...«

Then the line went dead. Huh that was weird, Beomgyu thought. »Probably just a wrong number«, he said to himself.

Almost immediately after the phone call, another customer came in. Another tall and handsome guy... just with dark brown, fluffy-looking hair this time. Hopefully this won't be a Soobin-situation...

»Hello, what can I get you?« Beomgyu asked after the guy had come to the counter.

»I would like an iced americano, please.« He started making his order but couldn't fail to notice the way the guy kept staring at him. It reminded him of Taehyun.

»That'll be $2.65.« The guy paid with card and then as Beomgyu gave him his card back their hands slightly brushed against each other. The stranger cracked a subtle smile and took his coffee.

»So Taehyun was right...« Beomgyu could hear him whisper.

»What?«

The guy just shook his head. »It's nothing. Bye, Beomgyu.« He immediately turned around and left before Beomgyu could even process what he just said.

He wasn't wearing his nametag so how did that stranger know his name? And what does Taehyun have to do with this again?

Beomgyu decided that this was the moment where whatever was going on started to concern him as well. As his shift ended he impatiently waited for his other coworkers to arrive so that he could finally leave. They were exactly on time but Beomgyu still felt like it took an eternity.

He changed out of his uniform and went outside, immediately took out his phone and dialed Taehyuns number. He didn't pick up for a while and Beomgyu was about to just hang up when he suddenly heard Taehyuns voice.

»Beomgyu?«

»Taehyun, where were you today?«

»Sorry, it was a family matter. I forgot to tell you but it won't happen again.«

Beomgyu then decided to tell him about the stranger that came in today.

He heard a sigh through his phone. »Hah, so he really went.«

»So you do know him!« he said excitedly. »Taehyun please tell me what is going on, who is this Yeonjun guy and what did Soobin mean with fate and–«

»Beomgyu«, Taehyun calmly cut him off. »I would love to explain everything to you but I'm not permitted to do so yet. Don't worry about anything for now and just wait, okay?«

Taehyun hung up.

Wha– Beomgyu stared at his phone screen in disbelief. He still didn't get any answers but at least this confirmed that something was up. His suspicions weren't for nothing.

Frustrated and tired, Beomgyu went to the mall to distract himself. While browsing through some clothes, he bumped into someone.

»Oh sorry, I didn't watch where–«

»Yeah yeah it's okay whatever« The other guy sounded very annoyed and Beomgyu raised a brow as he turned to look at him.

He was slightly taller than Beomgyu and had black hair that looked like it could really use a hair brush. His face was covered with a mask but his sharp eyes seemed to stare right into Beomgyus soul.

»What are you looking at?« He hissed. Okay that was it for Beomgyu. He had a shitty night, a shitty day and was very tired and annoyed, so this stranger being mad at him for no reason turned the last switch in him.

»Gee, don't flatter yourself. I'm just impressed that someone so ugly exists.« That was a lie, he couldn't even see most of the strangers face, but it was the first insult that came to his mind.

The guy just scoffed and walked past Beomgyu while intentionally bumping into him again. He didn't know what to say and watched the stranger pull his hood over his head as he walked away.

Beomgyu went home. He had enough of being in public and talking to weird strangers. It was only 5PM so he tried to take a quick nap but of course it didn't work. There was still too much light and noise from his neighbor. Letting out a deep sigh, he stood up and went to the kitchen to get some water.

Suddenly someone knocked on the door.
