»I've been wanting to talk to you, Choi Beomgyu.«
Beomgyu looked around in confusion. Instead of answering Seola, he walked up to the hole in the wall and gazed outside. »Where the fuck are we?«, he asked noone in particular.
They seemed to be in the middle of a huge forest with no end in sight. As Beomgyu had already noticed before: Trees and more trees. He assumed they were in some kinda treehouse because he could only see the treetops. Though standing closer to the hole, he could also see other buildings farther down – all similar to the one he was standing in.
He heard a deep sigh behind him. »Not the human world.«
Beomgyu turned around and gaped at Seola for a split of a second before bursting into laughter. The other two kept quiet with Kai nervously eyeing the exit.
After he was done laughing, the three of them looked at each other in silence. Beomgyu didn't know what to do, so he just slapped himself. »OUCH« He didn't hold back on it either.
»Beomgyu, this isn't a dream...« Kai chuckled timidly.
Okay, calm the fuck down. Either this is a very realistic dream or ... or ... idk actually. They're both sitting down so I should be able to just...
Beomgyu sprinted past them without looking back and ran out of the door. He closed the door and saw a simple wooden plank bridge and it didn't look very safe if you asked him. But he didn't wanna go back inside either so he just rushed across it. He ended up at another little house and looked around. There's gotta be a ladder to go down, right?
The building was surrounded by a little terrace but after going around it twice he still couldn't find a way down. He also started wondering why nobody had followed him.
Thinking that the ladder had to be inside the house, he nervously opened the door. Beomgyu wasn't sure what he had expected but it wasn't this. It looked like a study of some sort with a desk in the corner and a few bookshelves filling up the remaining space. There were loose papers scattered all over the place – but no ladder.
»Shit«, he whispered.
»Indeed.«
He quickly spun around and almost screamed in Seolas face.
»Sorry for scaring you... Kai was supposed to explain everything to you beforehand but I guess he didn't.« She glared at the taller boy who was standing directly behind her. »You also weren't meant to faint.« Kai avoided eye contact and distanced himself a little bit more.
»Why... isn't there a way down?« Beomgyu was already out of breath. Had he known that he would get into situations like this he would've worked on his stamina more.
»This is my personal study and I usually don't let other people inside... And well, I don't need ladders or anything.« Beomgyu had so many questions.
He kept peeking at the door behind them which Seola noticed. »I'm not gonna hold you here, Beomgyu. If you want, Kai will bring you back immediately. But I would like you to hear me out first.« He thought about it for a while before nodding.
There was zero reason for him to trust these people but there were also zero other ways to get out of this at the moment as well as a tiny part of him still believing that he was dreaming.
»So,« he tried to sound tough and not at all scared. »what's going on here?«
»How about we sit down for that?« She gestured for him to sit down on one of the two chairs by the desk. He nervously sat down and Seola took the other chair.
»Kai... You can go back to your training for now. I'll call you when we're done.« The tall boy didn't seem too pleased with that order but he complied.
»Okay mom– I mean– your majesty!« His ears turned red and he quickly hurried outside, accidentally slamming the door in the process.
Beomgyu turned to face Seola.
»Very well«, she began. »First of all, we're in a kingdom called Destya. Don't try telling me that it's on none of your world maps – I already told you we're not in the human world.« He faintly nodded.
»I know all of this is hard to believe but a long time ago our two worlds used to be connected. We all co-existed in peace. Unfortunately nobody knows the entire story of how we ended up seperated because the records of that time vanished for unknown reasons at some point.«
»Hold up«, Beomgyu broke her off. »You keep calling it the human world. Then are you not human?« She and Kai both didn't look like anything but humans to him.
»I am human... for the most part.« Wtf does that even mean?
Seola saw his confused expression and elaborated: »Most people here are human. The only difference is that we wield certain powers. I guess you would call it magic. And this magic manifests differently in every person which sometimes results in someone turning into an entirely different being.« Kai had mentioned magic before but Beomgyu had already forgotten about it.
»I have trouble believing that magic exists but okay, continue.«
»Is this proof enough?« Seola raised her hand and started pulling at seemingly nothing. A sound came from the desk next to them where Beomgyu saw a glass of water – except that the water had started to rise and slowly left the glass.
»What the–«
She kept moving her hand until the little blob of water floated in front of Beomgyus face. It stayed there for a while before it made its way back to its original place.
He blinked a few times and then picked up the glass to inspect it but he couldn't find any sort of mechanism attached to it. As he put it down again, his hands started to shake. Am I really about to believe in magic??
»Uhm, so... I guess you have a point«, he eventually said.
»Then I think I should add that only people with magical abilities can enter another world.« Beomgyu didn't understand at first but then it clicked.
»You're saying– I have– you know uhm–« A headache started kicking in at this point.
»Yes, that's what I'm saying. You also have magic in you. Quite the powerful one as well, it seems.« Beomgyu just laughed again while lowering his head. Couldn't he just wake up?
»Wtf uhm okay... So you had Kai bring me here because of that?« Seola reluctantly nodded in response.
»Partially, yes.« Beomgyu was beginning to get real annoyed at everything only being 'partially' or something along the lines all the time.
He stayed quiet so Seola continued talking. »There's one more thing I wanna tell you. You see, I am the queen of this kingdom.« Beomgyus head shot up. I've been talking to a queen???
She cracked a modest smile. »Don't worry about it. Just keep behaving like you've been doing. Anyway, my family may be on the throne now but that's only been the case ever since our world got seperated from yours. Before that, a different family had been ruling.«
Beomgyu sat up, though he kinda had trouble focusing because his head hurt like hell.
»After we had isolated ourselves from the humans, the previous family decided to leave and live in the human world instead. I already mentioned the big hole in our history because of all records being gone? Nobody knows what happened but everyone assumes they were forced to flee.«
He was listening intently and ended up more confused than before. »And what does that have to do with me?« Seola appeared to think about it for a while before exhaling a long breath.
»Okay. Hiding it from you won't change anything.« She made eye contact with him before she continued. »I'll just get to the point. You're their descendant«
