After two years of raising his son. Jim was in conflict again.

Liyda Raynor: The Tarsonis Institute of Health and Research says that John has psychic powers.

Jim Raynor: Oh so he has psionics?

Liyda Raynor: Yes, and they want to train John to increase his psionic potential.

Jim Raynor: I don't like the idea. I had bad blood with the Confederacy in the past and I don't want them to control my kid.

Liyda Raynor: Jim, your fears are unreasonable. It happened in the past when you held a grudge against them.

Jim Raynor: Sighs* Fine.

Months later.

Liyda Raynor: We received a letter from Tarsonis Institute of Health and Research.

Jim Raynor: Let's see what it says.

Liyda Raynor: We're sorry to inform you but your son has died in a shuttle accident. With regards, the Tarsonis Institute of Health and Research.

Liyda Raynor: NO!

Jim Raynor: It's not your fault.

Liyda Raynor: It is! I suggested it was a good idea! You were right Jim!

Winter 2498

As much as Jim tried to comfort her wife. Liyda's grief got the better of her and got the flu the very same year.

Liyda Raynor: ... it's over...

Liyda Raynor died succumbing to the flu and the loss of her child.

Jim Raynor: My family... gone. I don't trust ghosts and psychics. Well time to do Marshal duty I' ve need to cope with this...

Raynor decides to talk to his friend about his tales...

December 11th, 2499, Mar Sara

Jim Raynor: ... and that's why I'm upset.

Myles Hammond: Oh... I do feel for you and your plight. You seem to be having a rough time.

Jim Raynor: I considered giving up considering how I lost everything.

Myles Hammond: Oh don't think like that. You'll be a nihilist with that mindset. Even though you go through shitty times you always make it out in the end. You even fought in Guild Wars and that was far worse than your time in your crime syndicate and the loss of your family.

Jim Raynor: Yeah you're right. Lemme ride on my vulture bike to the wastelands. I need to rally my militia.

Myles Hammond: Right, Chau Sara was already under attack but by alien forces. If you think you have it rough now, wait till you see aliens start attacking us. Anyway, I gotta go, a new Magistrate will be taking over my position.

Jim Raynor: Well goodbye old friend. It's nice knowing ya.

Myles Hammond: Goodbye to you too.

After that Myles Hammond retired as Magistrate and was never seen again. Jim Raynor hops on his vulture bike rallying the Mar Saran people.

And with that.... Raynor's backstory is finished! The Starcraft Prequel to the main character is done!
