Author POV:
The unlikely group arrived at the South-East mountain fairly quickly with the help of Mitsuri's crow, whom had guided the way. Giyu felt the mountain had a familair look as the same mountain where he had killed Rui/saved Tanijro (it depended on how you thought about it).
The huge hill looked dark and unwelcoming. It had a mysterious aura to it and Mitsuri visibly shivered at the sight of it.
"It looks... scary." Minato commented.
"Sure does," Shinobu agreed, "But isn't it the perfect place for wandering travellers to roam into? I'll bet daylight doesn't even reach the ground floor for that huge forest on the mountain. Perfect for a demon."
"Well then, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Mitsuri exitedly leapt and dashed to the huge mountain and was closely followed by the three Hashiras, each one prepared to battle.
Author POV (ft. Minato):
"We should split up in pairs," Mitsuri began, "It'll be easier to find the demon that way."
"Yes, I agree." Shinobu said lightly.
"I want to go with Tomioka-san!" Minato piped up. She wanted to get closer to him. Her plan was already falling apart- first that idiot Mitsuri caught her as a demon, and now Giyu didn't catch feelings for her.
"I'll go with Mitsuri," Giyu said quickly. The water pillar obviously felt awkward around both Shinobu and Minato.
Minato POV:
At first my immediant reaction was to argue for what I wanted, but then I bit my tongue and thought about it.
It would actually be useful to be alone with Shinobu. Sometimes a quick change of plan could do a demon some good.
The annoying insect pillar was getting far too often in the way and I needed to get rid of her before she caused more trouble for me. I could tell she and Giyu had a special connection and, well, if she were dead, then everything would go better for me. My whole plan would be back on track!
However, I didn't underestimate her. After all, Shinobu was a Hashira, a weak one at that. I've heard many rumours about her not even having enough strength to decipate a demon- ridiculous talk, but it was true. Seemingly the insect pillar worked with poison, which was always tricky.
But I had my Blood Demon Arts and Sand Breathing. I'd climbed my way to become a Hashira even if I were a demon, I still endured hundreds of useless missions killing useless demons to protect useless humans, but it would be worth it when the Corps fell apart, without Muzan even interfering!
I could easily sneak attack Shinobu or just fight her head on. I wasn't brute strength- I was also flexible and agile. Also, I loved to bad-mouth and loophole my prey. It wasn't interesting enough to just kill- I loved to hear sad backstories or grovelling humans and then kill them with the flow of power in my head.
No doubt this pillar had a sad backstory. She had the aura of anger around her constently, so it would be interesting to hear her speak. Perhaps I could even dig her for more information about the Hashiras and Giyu.
So I agreed with Giyu, and the two pairs led their seperate ways. Me and Shinobu went left, and Mitsuri and Giyu went right.
Shinobu lightly ran in the forest, her eyes peeled for demons.
"Shinobu, slow down!" I called, "I think I feel a demon over there." I gestured to the right.
"Feel?" Shinobu asked slowly, "You can feel demons?"
"It's their aura," I explained, not lying, "They have a different feel than humans. It's sort of a creepy-crawly feeling and makes my heartbeat faster."
"Oh, okay then." Shinobu followed me as I led her into a dead end.
"What-"
"Shh." I cut her off and clamped my hand over her mouth. "If you want to live, then tell me about the Hashiras. Every single secret you know. And every single thing you know about Giyu."
Shinobu's eyes widened.
"I'm going to let you speak, but the instant you scream, it'll be off with your head, got it?" I hissed. I pinned her against a wall and put my sword dangerously close to her neck, then finally removed my hand from her mouth.
"W-why do you want to know?" Shinobu whispered.
I decided against revealing my plan and truth to her. She deserved to die in confusion, also, I didn't want to waste so much time explaining my genius plan to this lowlife.
"Because I like Giyu," I reflected, "And he doesn't like me. He obviously likes you, so I've got to get rid of you. But you're full of information- I can't let something like that go, can I? If you tell me, I might do you a favour and kill you quickly instead of torturing you."
I wasn't going to torture her either way anyways- as much as I would like to- it wasn't worth the risk of the others hearing her delicious screams. But threatening always came in handy.
"I- I don't have any special information... I've just know Giyu for a long time, that's all. He needs time to warm up to you before he can develop feelings- I mean, if he'll develop feelings." Shinobu said this last part sadly.
So perhaps Giyu didn't like Shinobu in that way? But it was too late now- I had gotten this far, and I was going on with it.
"Not good enough." I snarled, making myself as threatening as possible, "Tell me everything you know."
"Okay- I know he likes salmon dai-"
I slapped her hard on the face. "I don't care what he likes to ea-"
My words were caught off as there was a sudden sharp pain in my left leg and I fell back, gasping. I looked up and saw Giyu standing in front of Shinobu, his sword in hand..
Author POV:
"Don't touch her." Giyu snarled down at Minato. The sand pillar was clutching her wound, her eyes wide.
Giyu stood in front of Shinobu, protecting her. Shinobu put a hand to her face where Minato had slapped her and looked shocked.
"If you like me, Minato, just say so," Giyu said, a hint of sadness in his voice, "But don't harm others. We're all Hashiras- we shouldn't be fighting amongst eachother."
"I-I'm sorry, Tomioka-san, I don't know what in the world possesed me," Minato said slowly, her eyes brimming with tears, "I don't know what happened. One minute I'm running behind Shinobu, and the next I'm here..."
Shinobu did not believe her one bit.
Giyu sighed. "Let's just kill the demon and go back, okay?"
"T-Tomioka-san.."
Shinobu's head was feeling a bit light. Was their poison on Minato's blade? Minato's sword had touched her neck, after all..
"Please, forgive me.."
Minato rose onto her tip-toes and went in for the kiss.
Giyu's eyes widened.
Mitsuri gasped.
Shinobu fainted.
