Warning: The following chapter includes a fighting scene that may be lightly disturbing to some readers. (Low level of descriptive horror)
Author POV:
Minato's black-gold hair turned blood-red and her kimono had a different design in her transformation. Her eyes were burning red and she wielded two Katanas, one Nichirin and the other a Demonic sword. Her design was more menacing and her braid was thicker. Her old gold loop earrings had changed into a paperback earring with the Japanese characters- DIE- written on it.
"Really, that's Minato now?" Igouro murmered.
"Please," the demon smirked, "Call me Rin."
The fight contuined, with all the Hashiras lashing out on Rin, but still the demon appeared to be unharmed. However, most of the pillars had suffered wounds and injuries, though no-one had lost a limb yet. It began with mainly weapon-fighting, few used techniques or forms.
But then the Hashiras got tired so they got serious. And Rin followed suite.
Needless to say, Rin's Sand Breathing and incredible Blood Demon Arts overpowered most of the Hashiras. Though the pillars still gave Rin a run for her money, it was still obvious who was going to survive.
Eventually Rin decided it was time to stop playing around, and she unleashed her full potential onto the Hashiras.
Her Blood Demon Arts consisted of 12 forms, each one to do with levitation, teleporation and more.
Sand Breathing came naturally to the demon, the attacks getting more and more powerful as Rin powered the form up with her Blood Demon Arts and incredible techniques. Just her dagger-throwing and brute strength and speed was enough to overwhelm the Hashiras.
But one of her best tricks was still up her sleeve, just waiting to be used.
"Fifth Form: Mirage," Rin shouted, "Blood Demon Arts: Slice and Lash!" The demon had combined the powerful Sand Breathing form and her Blood Demon Arts.
Mirage consisted of a powerful, dodgy spin of the scythe, creating a hallucination in which the opponent can see their greatest wish come true. Then, the Blood Demon Arts would kill the enemy while they were seeing mirages.
Immediantly, effective was the spell, everyone shifted into the vision
Shinobu's Vision
The world where Kanae wasn't dead, she was still alive, and Douma was dead instead, and everyone Shinobu loved was alive. A world where demons didn't exist and Kanae, Shinobu, Kanao, Aoi, and the three triplets all lived together peacefully and happily. They treated patients with normal human wounds and took in lots of people in need. The world where Shinobu ended up with Giyu happily and no-one was ever hurt, and no-one ever cried.
Giyu's Vision
The world where Tsutako was still alive, or at least she hadn't died protecting me.
Giyu awoke from the vision in a flash with a new channel of raw power in his veins, powered by unquestionable anger.
Rin's eyes widened. "How did you wake up so quickly?" She frowned.
"It wasn't a long vision," Giyu said shortly.
"But your greatest wish come true- shouldn't that- feel cruel? Like dropping back onto the real world, the bittersweet feeling of reality? Why are you gripping your sword so hard?" Rin sputtered. The whole point of the mirage was to confuse and hurt the opponent mentally. It was also used for distraction.
"My greatest wish isn't to live happily ever after in a castle with a princess and a loving family," Giyu said coldly, "It's to die instead of someone else. And living is more pain than dying. You can see how your little party trick doesn't effect me now?"
He swung his blade at Rin, taking her by suprise. She barely managed to block the lightning-fast attack with her own Nichirin sword.
"Don't underestimate me," she growled, "If I can escape the so-called "Demon King's" grasp, then I can just as well do anything!"
"Eight Form: Sandstorm!" Rin struck down the complicated, deadly technique.
The user propels themselves in the air and throws their scythe at their oppenent, causing one horizontal Sand slash, then they burst down and grab their scythe and then begin to slash at the opponent in a flowing motion, hitting all their joints such as shoulders, knees, elbows, ankles, wrists, causing them to be paralyzed for a split second, giving the user time to unleash a deadly Vertical Sand slash that usually results in the opponent getting sliced into two halves. Though this form takes a lot of stamina and could exhaust the user, Rin was able to use it withotu depleting herself since she was a demon.
But Giyu had stalled time long enough for the other Hashiras to wake up. Though still a little bit dizzy, Shinobu was able to block Rin's attack, protecting Giyu from getting hurt, although she suffered a cut on her shoulder.
"Get out of the way!" Giyu shouted, "You don't need to protect me!"
The moment was horrifying for the water pillar. He'd had enough of other people dying for him, he couldn't have any more, wasn't it enough that Tsutako was taken from him?
"I was just saving you, don't you be so snappy at me!" Shinobu frowned as she dueled with Rin.
"I don't need you to save me!" Giyu shouted back as he slashed Rin's feet, which of course grew back instantly, but managed to buy them a second for the other pillars to recover and fight back.
The battle contuined, Rin defending herself easily from all the Hashira's attacks. Being a demon, Rin barely grew weary, but she was starting to tire everyone out.
"You're all pretty tough to hold out till now," Rin commented, "No wonder you're Hashiras, hey? But that won't last for much longer."
"Don't underestimate us!" Shinobu shouted, as she ran up to the demon, using a breathing form. Rin blocked it easily with a twist of her sword.
"Honestly, these Nichirin swords are so flimsy," Rin whined, looking down at the Nichirin sword in her hand, "Look how scratched and chipped it is! Useless."
Giyu came back from behind her while she was distracted, spotting the Opening Thread and aiming for it. He managed to get his sword gouged into Rin's neck, but it was too tough to cut through. It was rock-hard, harder than any boulder he'd split before.
"Ha! You think you're going to cut off my head?" Rin's evil laugh echoed around.
But even though Giyu couldn't cut off her head, it was enough to control her movements, and the other Hashiras striked out on her as Giyu tried his best to saw through her neck.
If we can just hold on until sunrise, Giyu thought, she'll die even if I can't cut her neck.
But it was obvious that it was a losing battle. The Hashiras would die before the sun came up.
Forcing every inch of strength into his body, Giyu summoned his Demon Slayer mark, ignoring the pain from his wounds.
"Do not let others hold the right to decide if you live or die!"
I won't let more people die before my eyes.
A/N: It's a lot tougher to build tension in words! This battle will be seperated in four sections. Hope you enjoy! Thank you for all the support so far!
