Sabito POV:

I headed on my way to visit Shinobu at the Hashira estate. Apparently they were all staying there for a few weeks.

It had been the most shocking news when Giyu told him that the insect pillar liked him. The most unexpected thing.

It would be so awkward when he tried to let down Shinobu gently. He didn't even know the girl- no idea about what she was like, her personality. Giyu had tried to fill him in but it didn't really provide much.

So she was apparently a "sunshiny, chatty" girl who was sensitive about certain things (family, etc.). At least she wasn't moody.

I had a pretty good idea on what she looked like. She wore a butterfly-design haori, the usual Corps uniform and she had a purple gradient in her hair. She also had some kind of hair accesory- a ribbon? I couldn't remember.

But still, I was able to spot her easily. All the Hashiras were gathered together, and looking sort of awkward.

"Uh, hello, everyone. Fujikasane Sabito. Friend of Giyu's." I said, bowing lightly to the Hashiras.

"Hello, Sabito." Giyu said. I could read his eyes- you're here to tell Shinobu, right?

"Well- Kochou Shinobu?" I turned to the insect pillar, whom was standing beside a girl with pink and neon green hair.

"Yes?" Shinobu answered, looking wary. Perhaps there had been a fight.

"May I speak to you privately?" I asked.

"Of course," Shinobu answered, a hint of confusion in her voice.

I led her farther away from the Hashiras.

"So, Shinobu..." I began, "Giyu told me that.. you had Hanahaki."

"Oh." Shinobu winced. "Oh, yes. I see."

"And well.. he said that it was me..." I said gently.

"Yes.. um." Shinobu looked extremely uncomfortable.

Shinobu POV:

Oh god. Oh god, oh god.

No way. Giyu told him?! He took it that seriously? Oh no. I obviously didn't mean it... This would make things awkward between me and Sabito forever. And I didn't especially want that- Sabito seemed like a nice guy and powerful too, I would have liked to have him as a friend.

Should I tell him about my whole thing? The real person? Giyu?

It was risky. Very risky. I didn't even know is Sabito was trustworthy. Besides, I didn't want to tell more people, because it would have a greater risk of getting out as a rumour from who-knows-who.

But how else to get out of this? She couldn't let poor Sabito actually think she liked him like that, could she?

She made the choice to trust him.

"Look, Sabito.." I leaned in and whispered, "It's not actually you. I was lying to Giyu because he asked, and, well, it's actually him... so that's what he thinks.. please don't tell him, and keep this a secret, I don't want it getting out. Besides, the Hanahaki has been reducing lately. Please, I'm trusting you."

Sabito looked suprised and somewhat relieved. "Oh, I see. Of course I'll keep it a secret, I understand."

"Thank you," I sighed, "Well, I hope in the future, this isn't... too big a hole for us to patch... I've heard good things about you and I'd love to be your friend."

"That's great." Sabito smiled, "I'll see you later then."

"Yes. Bye!"

Phew. So that was solved. Sabito went off to say goodbye to Giyu and then he was off back to Urodaki.

I just hope I made the right choice...

A/N: I know the picture makes zero sense regarding this chapter but it was the only picture featuring Sabito and Shinobu I could find, sorry 😓
